Canaltown is one of the only independent coffee roasters in town. When the beans are being roasted, you’ll smell them as you drive by the Winton Road overpass on 490. Literally. It’s a beautiful thing. The coffee is excellent, as are the baked goods, and the environment is relaxed and just a little bit classy, with rotating art exhibitions on the walls.

Peter, Thank's for using Balsam Bagels at your establishment. We use your Rochester Choice Whole Bean Coffee in our store and our customers love it.

What a disappointment this place is. The decor inside looks like a Salvation Army store. The help is surly and ignorant. The coffee is nearly always over-roasted, giving a distinct burnt taste, and they even have the gall to charge MORE than other coffee chains for it! They say they open at 7:00, but often there isn't even any coffee ready until 20 minutes later! And, if you go in during the afternoon, most of the time the coffee in the pots is so old, it's not even lukewarm anymore. Frankly, I don't know how this chain stays in business.
