Most Chinese restaurants are interchangeable. Chen Garden rises above, serving many unusual and authentic dishes. For that reason, it’s a favorite of local Chinese people (always look for that in an ethnic restaurant). Real Peking duck is a treat and pricey; but generally, a very affordable, high-quality restaurant.

Wow! I've lived in Rochester my whole life and can't believe I never found Chen Garden before! I finally went there last night, and it's wonderful! The wait staff was very nice and accommodating. The menu is great! A very large full-color menu, with a picture of every dish that they make---so you can actually see the food, which is actually helpful when trying to decide what to order from their very large selection. They offer the traditional Chinese favorites, and some Thai dishes as well. And, there are also some Chinese dishes that you don't see on the average Chinese restaurant menu. Everything ordered came pretty quickly, was hot and delicious! Yes, it may be a LITTLE pricey.....but it was all so good that I didn't mind the price at all. I would rather pay a little bit more for good food, than have cheap, bad food. My only complaint---it was just a little dark in the restaurant. I saw a gentleman at another table actually take out a penlight, so he could see the menu better. All in all.....Chen Garden is the best Chinese restaurant I've been to in Rochester, and I think I've been to most of them. I highly recommend it.

The menu is *huge*, and everything I've tried so far has been very good. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed. It's relatively expensive for Chinese food, but definitely worth it.
