The New York Times might have dissed the Manhattan branch, but that shows a disconnect with popular taste. Nothing could be more popular than the Dinosaur, where people pack a groovy, old train station to eat ribs, pulled pork, chicken, and sides. The City Newspaper Burger Patrol also dug the burgers. It’s a bit loud and there’s a wait, but could all those people be wrong? See for yourself.

This place is fun. They get original bands in, and the atmosphere is like no other. I'm a vegetarian, and this is still my favorite place to go.

The large and spacious building screams with the collection of conversations. And the blues bumps every night of the week. Quick service even on the busiest nights. And just damn good BBQ. Simple. Loud. Savory. Dark. Big. Its the Blues and BBQ. What else should there be at such a place? Warmly lit? Quiet? Healthy?! HELL NO!

They finally added a portobello sandwich as a cursory nod to vegetarians, but that's all you're going to get. Fried green tomatoes make a tasty, if pricey, appetizer.

Our party of close to 20 was made to wait for over an hour for 1 late party member before being seated, regardless of the stated fact that we were willing to place our orders immediately. Completely unacceptible. I will never eat there again.

Awesome food and a great atmosphere. If you don't like long waits, go for lunch.

Overated, was not impressed. Have talked with others that felt the same way. I don't get why people think their ribs are so good. I've eaten a lot of ribs and would not even rate theirs.

To "Hungry Diner" Go to Cheesecake factory with a party of 20, then get back to me about waits. 1 hour for 20 with no reservation is actually quite a short wait!

Dinosaur opened after I left Rochester, but it has become the go-to place for me and my boyfriend when I come home to visit. In fact, I think if I didn't take him there when we visited I may not have a boyfriend anymore!
Its terrific. He'll get the beer sampler and often we'll share a barbeque sampler with chicken, brisket (my favorite) and ribs. There is more than enough food for two people. And every time we bring home as many bottles of barbeque sauce as we can handle. Its not only one of the lowest calorie barbeque sauces on the market but its also delicious..... It doesn't rely on being over-sugared as do so many sauces out there.

I have yet to try the friend green tomatoes but the reviews are making me want to when we visit for Thanksgiving.

A great place, not pretentious and the waitstaff are incredibly friendly. Parking is available nearby at a public lot. My only complaint is that when we go on weekends the rest of the downtown Rochester area is completely dead so there's no place to walk to or much to look around at other than the dam behind the old library!

Just moved to upstate NY and was eager to try Dino BBQ. Awesome selection of beers and great BBQ joint atmosphere. The food, however, was just okay and nothing to write home to mom about. Their ribs are right up there with Crapplebees.
What a let down. Final analysis -- way too over-rated.
