Formosa Breeze was opened in 2007 by Chef Hwang Yei to bring authentically Taiwanese food to the area. The menu is of bewildering length, and half in Chinese, but the staff is very helpful in translating and offering guidance. Some of it consists of items not encountered on Western menus, such as spicy beef organ (a cold salad of thinly sliced tongue and crunchy tendon dressed with a chili oil and hot chili pepper vinaigrette) and beef tendon, which is a surprisingly tasty contrast to the texture of beef that surrounds it. Other menu items include twice-fried pork, deep-fried squid, sa cha beef, hot and spicy fish, and pan-fried rice cakes. Rounds of battered, deep-fried sweet potatoes, a sort of tempura, make a very pleasant (if unusual) dessert.
