Giovanni's Ristorante Bravo brings the atmosphere of an Italian cafe to Victor. Order an appetizer while you browse the extensive wine list and menu. Consider the arancini (breaded risotto balls stuffed with seasoned ground veal, green peas, and romano cheese, served with marinara sauce) or the melanzane alla fiorentina (thin slices of eggplant dipped in egg batter, sauteed French style, layered with spinach, and fontinella cheese) for your starter. For your main dish, try the pasta e fagioli (penne tossed in olive oil and garlic with sauteed Italian sausage, cannellini beans, fileto tomato, and shaved parmesan cheese), the vitello alla marsala (veal medallions sauteed in marsala wine with mixed mushrooms, garlic, and seasonings over steamed spinach), or the osso di agnello (season-encrusted charbroiled loin lamb chop served with pineapple mint risotto).

Wife and I drove out from Brockport on 2/13/10 for dinner. We had made reservations beforehand, but had no idea what awaited us. Their usual prices are 15-30 for entrees and <10 for appetizers. When we got there tonight, however, they had substituted an incredibly expensive prix fix menu. Prices ranged from 49 to 69.00 PER PERSON, drinks and tip not included!!! What??!! Last time my wife and I went, we spent about 70.00 all included. This time it was more than double. Arguably, we should have walked out, that's always a choice, but we had a gift certificate (fortunately) and we were all dressed up and had travelled a long way. In all fairness, it was four courses, including desert, but the portion sizes were half the usual size for apps/deserts and 2/3 the usual size for entrees. A restaurant that isn't looking to ambush its loyal patrons doesn't make such a radical change in its menu without some warning. "Just so you know, we have a special prix fixe menu tonight..." It's unlikely we will ever return, the food was reasonably good, for rather pedestrian Continental/Italian fare (we had Veal with Gnocchi and Filet Oscar, not exactly breaking any new culinary ground here). The sour taste in our mouths was about the only new and unexpected flavor in our dinners tonight. Shame on you, Ristorante Bravo.

I love this restaurant -- the food is delicious and the staff is wonderful. I like it so much, we had the rehearsal dinner for our wedding there, and they really took great care of our party.
