"Texas Hots" has passed into American slang as a shorthand for "lunch counter", and that's just what Gitsis is. The place has a sort of Pulp Fiction chic to it. Bad lighting, vinyl booths with formica tables, and a lunch counter up front near the rotating pie cooler all scream mid-century diner. Still, if you are looking for a place for a hot or a burger after the bars close, you can't do much better than this. It's cheap, it's open, and their hots - topped with their own thin yet intensely spicy hot sauce - are sublime.
