The Highland Park Diner is a local institution and a good restaurant to boot. The original owners went to great lengths to preserve the period diner look and feel, so the place is full of old deco ads and the waitresses wear spiffy, black uniforms. And the food is a bit above standard diner fare, made fresh and with care (the onion rings are some of the best around). Can be busy, which means waiting for a table, but service is good once you’re in.

Good place to get breakfast. The food can be pretty rich but it works for me.
