A cross between a New York City-style diner and a Jewish deli, the Monroe Diner has converted the former PaRe space into a 50's-inspired, upscale diner. The entire interior has been completely remodeled and redecorated to include retro-style booths, a black-and-white checkerboard floor, chrome light fixtures, and more. Like many diners, Monroe Diner serves breakfast all day, but what sets it apart are some unique offerings, from the Captain Crunch French toast to the Brooklyn omelet made with lox, onions, and Swiss cheese. Probably the most distinctive choices on the menu are the deli-style pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, both of which come in two portion options: the "overstuffed classic" or the "upstate easy," served on fresh-baked Jewish rye.

Hello
I have to tell everyone about this place.. What a unique place to eat. All the girls and I frequent this little gem twice a week for lunch. You will find friendly happy servers who are there at the right moments. The fast service and great food keeps us coming back again and again. I recommend the diner to everyone and tell them to try the Chicken Cesar Wrap., its a favorite. My husband and I also venture to the diner for breakfast on Saturdays his favorite is the Captain Crunch French Toast. If there were more stars to give as a rating I would.

This place is what home town diners are supposed to be. The food is well priced and served fast.My first visit to the diner I had a burger and fries with a coke. To tempt me my server asked if I would like dessert, I gave in and her suggestion of the chocolate cake won me over. The mile high piece of cake came on a dinner size plate and looked like someone ripped a picture form a fancy magazine. Wow was my first response and My god this is delicious was my second. Being a fan of desserts this cake is what continues to call me back to the Monroe Diner again and again. You guys this place is a must try. Greg

This place was absolutely awful. Our food took over an hour to get to us. When we finally did get our very mediocre food it was not what we ordered. The waitress was not attentive. It was also fairly expensive considering the poor quality of the food. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Very disappointing. We went over for lunch on a Saturday. Prices are good, but the music was too loud and too old (50's-60's). There are two large screen TVs tuned to two stations. Why do I want to watch CNN with no sound while I eat lunch in a 50's style diner? Murder and disaster are not too appetizing. My turkey club was pretty good, but it was accompanied only by a small bowl of potato chips, rather than fries. My wife got the wrong order, but trying to get the waitresses attention was not worth it. Her sandwich came with fries - shouldn't diner fries be crisp? We had a hard time getting our bill, which was wrong and had to be redone. Hurry over if you're interested: if they don't clean up their act, they won't be open long.

I was so disappointed with everything about the Monroe Diner other than its appearance. Our food was awful our service was terrible. It was as if the staff didn't remember they were working. Nobody checked on us after we got our meal, which took over an hour to arrive. We had to walk up to them to pay our bill. There were at least 4 servers sitting at the counter with their backs to the dining area. I couldn't stress what a disappointing experience my family and I had. We will never go back and wouldn't recommend it to a soul.

so I went to the monroe diner last week with a girlfriend for lunch, let me tell you it was awful and I will NEVER go back. our server was sitting at the end of the bar texting on her cell phone and let us sit for a few minutes before taking our drink order, the food came out in a decent amount of time and it was delicious but our server never refilled our drinks or asked us if we needed anything else nor did she come back to check on us until we were done with our food...now I could understand if it was busy but this was not the case. when we asked to speak to a manager some teenage, maybe 20 something year old girl came up to our table with with boy clothes and a bad attitude and did nothing to help us. this place is awful, never go there!
