Vegan diners can rejoice and gather at Natural Oasis Cafe. By day, Natural Oasis offers a dependable Ethiopian lunch buffet offered by owner Solomon Kebede and his sister Konjit. For dinner, the cafe is transformed as Chef Nick Bovenzi (formerly sous chef at 2 Vine, the New York Wine and Culinary Center, and, most recently, Good Luck) rolls out the dinner menu, an ever-changing array of inexpensive ($4 a plate) tasty treats. Try combinations you never imagined, made with fresh (and, when in season, locally grown) ingredients. Curious about a spiced cheese made from cashews? Try it here. Or how about ginger and cinnamon applesauce with curry? The many dishes are delicious as they are creative, and dessert is no exception. Accompany the meal with some healthful house-brewed kombucha tea, and follow it all with a browse through shelves of books and items you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.
