1 Ryan Alley
Rochester, NY 14607

Carved out of what was once a garage on Ryan Alley, the dining room is dominated by an astonishingly long bar backed by a cleverly projected slideshow of contemporary art. Velvety reds, deep burgundies, bronze accents, and mellow lighting soften the exposed steel beams, metal framed windows, and rough brickwork that are reminders of the building's industrial past. The result is both simple and lavish - just like the food coming out of Chef Jay Cohen's kitchen, including hand-rolled sushi, pastas, pizzas, mini hamburgers, and goose liver.

I was looking forward to my first trip to One, because of the reputation of the chef.
Initially, we were served warm martinis in wine glasses, we waited ages to order and half way through the main course, had to ask a waitress who was not serviing our table ,to please our bread. We then sat with empty, dirty dishes for over 20minutes, until the waitress who brought our bread, noticed and sent our waitress over to the table. The food was very good, but not worth the atrocious service.

Gerriann must have had a fluke server, because whenever I go, I always receive impeccable service. As she had noted, the food is always amazing, which why I frequent this restaurant.
I'm sorry you had a poor experience, but I think you should give it another try, as you will be pleasantly surprised with the standards this place holds itself to.

We have been here many times, and have never been disappointed. The new fall menu is terrific, and we have always received very attentive service.
