This quintessential Italian-American lunch place started out in a back alley around the corner from its current location. Virtually no one would drive, or even walk, by the restaurant, so good, inexpensive food and friendly service helped spread the word. Now located on East Main Street, it has a picturesque view of the Eastman Theatre. Rosey Vitale is the hostess and her husband, Rick, handles the cooking, but it really feels like dining at the kitchen table in their home.

I've eaten lunch at Rosie's many many times and the food is consistently great. The prices can't be beat and the service is always fast and friendly. Even with a packed dining room, it's easy to get in and out on a lunch hour.

The Wizard Of OZ said on May. 27, 2009 at 1:28am

On Tour of the country with the National Tour of The Wizard Of OZ, I was performing in Rochester, NY. Walking up to the YMCA, little did I know what I was about to discover. The food at Rosey's was only outshone by the welcoming spirit of Rosey. I was saddened to see that it was only open for lunch, closing at 3:00 PM. After making a phone call to the Wicked Witch and one of the Tin Man's Trees we all met there at 2:45 PM for an incredible lunch. The eggplant is the best and most delicate eggplant fried I have ever had. The red sauce is lovely and I am glad to say that it did not speak back to me when I was in The Emerald City during this evening's performance. All three of us had a great late lunch and I plan on going there several more times during out week stay. It is a must if you are in Rochester.
Thank you, Rosey, for your hospitality...Luckily I had swam my laps BEFORE lunch!!

Rosey's is a great place for lunch. They are now open on Thursday and Friday nights for you folks who don't work downtown. This is a great place with great food in a location convenient to the Eastman complex- I love it!

I've been eating at Rosie's for years! One of the BEST restaurants in Rochester. Her greens and beans can not be beat.

I love the food, it is always excellent. I have never had to have anything sent back to the kitchen. The prices are reasonable; the portions are great, the service is always professional, warm, and pleasant. I wish the dinning room was larger. I have never had to sit at a dirty table, or had to ask if they could wipe the table off before I sat down.
