The first restaurant opened by Tandoor of India owner Makhan Singh is also excellent. Smaller, it still has a great selection and an excellent buffet. Recently remodeled, it also has some of the most comfortable chairs in the area.

Re: Melissa's comment, the coupons say "not valid on buffet" and lunch is always buffet! Read the fine print!!! The food is ALWAYS excellent, they have lots of vegetarian items and some can be made vegan also. Most of the wait staff are very friendly and attentive, although sometimes they get very busy and don't have enough waiters working, but it is worth the wait! The manager, Ajay is very nice and helpful! If you're a regular there like I am, they will treat you very well!

Best Indian Food in town. Very nice buffet though very busy and generally not enough waiters but decent service and very good food.

The food was great, but they refused to honor my coupon at lunch time, even though it said valid any time. They certainly don't believe that the customer is always right, and this customer walked away angry.

I agree that this is currently the best Indian restaurant in Rochester, along with the Mysore Restaurant in Lohman's Plaza on Clinton Avenue in Brighton. The food is always extrmely high quality and the decor is relaxing and even elegant. Thali has a very broad menu as well, though nothing like the amazing varieties of Indian food available at Mysore. They both deserve lots of visits.

I travel a lot in USA. Wherever I go, I look for an Indian and especially Punjabi Restaurant. Thali of India is the bestest of best for many reasons. The food is delicikous. The quality is quantity is in abundance. Variety in vegetables and non vegetables are countless. There are many deserts and fruit. Flowers on the tables give a charm. Customer service is unique and matchless. Believe me, no body can beat Thali of India. The owner Makhan Singjh and the Manager Kasim are very very welcoming and generous. I recommend all to try at least once.

Just ate there last night for the first time-the best Indian cuisine I've tasted since living in India. Everything on the buffet was delicious-Tandoori chicken with yogurt exceptional. Tried to tast everything on ther buffet but gave up because I was totally stuffed. A multitute of flavors where a taste sensation. They also had a special Ramadan selection for a large group that arrived after sundown! I'll definitly return for a second helping!
