What is your point. The victory must still be earned. The status quo WILL be repudiated. The good ol boy network will be handed a bitter defeat and I LOVE it!!
More sour grapes from the Eastman House.
Having failed in their previous underhanded attempt to gain possession of this property they now try (unsuccessfully) to claim they THEY'RE the victim !
Clearly another cry into the night to try and urge maintenance of the status quo! Sad but so true.
In the end Tom Richards is just playing games with the voters and the people trying to revive his campaign. He endorsed Warren and yet will not stop the last minute efforts to get him elected. Any respect I had for Richards is now gone.
Richards is just adding to the confusion and offers another reason why people are turning away from voting.
This will probably be censored, as so much of the real conversation about the mayor's race:
A hint of sour grapes?
The proportion of Rochester voters has gone largely unchanged--the population is declining, so too then, are absolute votes. Warren won the primary by the largest margin IN HISTORY-- a history that you deem insignificant, apparently. I know for a fact that Warren's camp did a ton of voter reg work. How much do you think Richards did? ZERO, because it wasn't in their interest to register voters.
Where is your outrage about the TurnOUt's unethical campaign practices: their lack of disclosure, the misleading information, not to mention THEIR LACK OF CANDIDATE? And where was your outrage when Duffy defeated Norwood by less than 2,000 votes?
It should be noted that your outrage over voter turnout lines up perfectly with the messaging of the TurnOutForTom crew, Rochester's own Tea Party. CityNews has become their echo chamber, their very own FOX news.
I thought City was the paper for the voiceless, willing to take tough policy stands for the people. You've become a mouthpiece of the establishment.. PERIOD.
Thank god, this NIMBY garbage needs to stop. When a developer comes along with a GOOD development plan and gets this level of hassle from the community, how are we ever going to turn things around in Rochester?
Welcome neighbors! Stop by 6 atlas street some time
Christine – I agree. Why would anyone suspect City of stacking the deck by their coverage of the Morgan project merely because Ms. Towler has already stated her NIMBY opposition to their proposal? Or because City recently opted for repetitive use of a photo of the Eastman House’s Mr. Barnes despite having used neutral photos of the property in past reports? Or because the Eastman House’s land grab is given current and repeated coverage whereas the opposition from the property owner is relegated to the occasional past mention buried deep within an article?
“So let's repudiate those who are trying to obstruct the victory that Ms. Warren will rightfully claim on November 5.”
Is this the same Bill Johnson who a couple of weeks ago was encouraging Warren’s supporter to go to the polls next month because her election WASN’T a foregone conclusion given the advent of the Richards’ shadow campaign?
Though voting is important, I detect a hint of sour grapes in that people didn't come out to vote for the "right" candidate, ie. Tom Richards. But I agree with the sentiment of voting. However after that, we all need to be quiet. This is a representative democracy, not the Athenian Assembly. Our opinion is irrelevant until the next election.
As they say in the meat processing business, no matter how you package it, it's still baloney!
Teaches you perception is reality and the complex problem is when you don't understand the perceptions others have for you, your country or your cause. More often than not were too caught up in the culture shock and cannot comprehend that there are cultures out there that differ from our own and that ours is not the best, none is better or worse.
I still don't understand how Jeremiah's always gets best wings. Small wings with a limited choice for sauces. Dinosaur and Windjammer's beat them for taste and quality hands down.
Thank you for publishing this list. Love the multitude of sarcasm and typos throughout....brought a huge smile to my face! Monte Alanon...sounds like quite the aristocratic meeting!
Thanks for your comments. I fixed the post so it includes the correct info for the proposed raise.
Love Rochester beer lovers. Clamor that they want to be recognized as a burgeoning center for craft beer in the Northeast., then lazily select a middling beer (AGAIN) to represent their city. Classic!
One step forward, two steps back...
Ha! Who said Tom Richards' projects don't bring jobs downtown?
It was just not the issue of 18% over six years, the wording in the contract needs to be redefined . It's also about Wegmans taking work from us and giving it to outside vendors, taking delays away which means loss of money, there are times when you break down and your stuck for hours we would normally get paid road delay, or going to pickup a backhaul and having to wait hours on end for the load which we would normally get paid for. Lets not forget the middle man nothing in the contract for them! The Wegmans family wants to take money from us , would they like it if someone took money from them? The Pension is huge for a lot of member's who have put the time and money in and have 25-29 years in and get nothing! is that right?
We at Gel salon are so proud of our stylist Heather DeMars for being a finalist in The Best of Rochester! Congrats Heather!!
