It is shameful when a reporter reviewing a concert doesn't know the spelling of the artist's name. And, to stoop to the low class level of mentioning a person's weight when reviewing their talent is just stupid and mean. He is an amazing singer and songwriter and deserves respect.
Weeks Girl
Another ironic essay by Towler, seeing that she has saw fit to not hire even one single black person or hispanic from the "City" of Rochester for her newspaper. Feel free to look at the staff names and google their pictures. Not one minority. And then have the gall to wax on about employment discrimination. PLEASE!!!!
I honestly think that if City objectively (hopefully) looks at the track of these issues, it makes a different point. Ms. Andrews, as minority leader, proposed a law to ban guns from the county office building. That would make sense if she checked ...she would have found out that there was already a law on the books to do that! Before that, she stood up to criticize Republicans for adding a "snow tax"...something done by the city years before. Now she is upet about a pro rata cut in minority member funding...good lady...bad understanding of the issues!
Once more, Morelle puts her out there to ensure that she will never be meaningful in Monroe County. Carrie, you are a great future leader...but, bad at understanding when you are being used!

Here is what most people are unaware of:
1. The US is providing arms via CIA connections (gun running which is violating international law)
2. Those CIA connections are via a town in Libya called Benghazi
3. The attack on the embassy site was after the Ambassador met with officials from Turkey who were setting up a transfer of US arms brought to Libya during the uprising via ship to Turkey, then Syria
4. The Saudi's were also involved by facilitating the US / Syria relationship
5. The Saudi student caught in Boston and later released is also very much a part of the Saudi influence in this country .... not unlike the 400 Saudi's who flew out of this country a few days after 9/11/01 when no planes were allowed to fly in or out of this country. ......
Now many might respond with this being a conspiracy theory and I would agree .... the problem is there is plenty of real, actual information to support all of this especially the Saudi's influence on this US Administration and probably to last ...... To say we should be careful about becoming involved in Syria is too little said and clearly too late ......
Squandering taxpayer money. Andy needs to pay a visit and clean house!
Some of those duets rocked. Seriously has an ousted performer ever been promoted so much?
I am totally Team Candice. I love Kree but felt her energy or interest had waned.
As a teacher in the district for over a decade, I can tell you that one of the major complaints of teachers and administrators is that parents aren't more involved.
I can also say that some parents believe that advocating for their child means denying any wrongdoing on their child's part... it's always someone else's fault. Also, even when teachers do keep parents in the loop and make frequent phone calls, the students most in need of behavioral modification are not effectively addressed by those parents a vast majority of the time. Any parents who are called more than 2 times a marking period, by the 3rd marking period are pretty much getting those calls so they can't tell the school the teacher didn't let them know.
As opposed to putting out a survey (that Howard Eagle is likely correct in his belief that the impact will be minimal), how about putting the effort into developing a class for parents that will help teach parents how to become effective advocates, and how best to become involved in their child's education. Too many parents do not know how to access the "system" in a meaningful and effective way. I'm sure the district has held these classes before, but they need to hold them regularly, often,. in a variety of places. Many of our least effective parents have not had positive experiences with school, so holding these classes at a school effectively shuts them out. Hold them at community centers and libraries, restaurants and other places around at a variety of times so parents can participate without having to take time off work. If we do this, a survey won't be necessary... we will have done enough to get parents involved. It will then be their responsibility.
I am puzzled by your luke warm review. I have never had a meal there that was anything less than excellent. Despite being an avid carnivore , the black bean burger is one the best things that I have ever eaten.
I expected Angie Miller and Candice Glover too, but I’m still glad that I had my three girls together and America at least got THAT right. They both recorded albums, so they will both be just fine. My whole family likes a lot of TV shows, so I’m grateful that when I can’t watch Idol live because we’re watching something else, my DISH Hopper records all of the primetime shows on FOX each evening. That way I can watch it in the morning before I go to my job at DISH and don’t miss a thing when my coworkers talk about what happened.
Caught The Mighty High and Dry at Abilene recently, really fine band.
Why would anyone even suggest that a vegetarian option would "benefit" from steak or chicken? That defeats the whole purpose. I would probably agree, taste-wise, with that suggestion, but I'm not a vegetarian and so I don't order vegetarian options. That's also why I'd make a crap food critic.
I get the cranberry chicken salad every time I go, because it's the best. Yeah, maybe sometimes chicken falls off the bread, but since when is "there's too much delicious filling in my sandwich!" a complaint anyone makes?
I have to respectfully disagree with Mr Leach on this one. The cookies are not what I go for - the sandwiches are sublime! I've literally never had one I did not find absolutely delicious, and I tell people that Orange Glory is my favorite (non-alcoholic) lunch in the City. The lamb burger, when available, is knock-your-socks-off tasty, and even the veggie offerings satisfy this omnivore's cravings. I've never bothered with a soup there, so cannot comment on that. I generally agree with Mr Leach's tasting reviews, so he is no doubt right that it's bland. I do eat my OG sandwich with a knife and fork, since, as mentioned, the generous portioned fillings otherwise escape the bread. Other vehicles for the flavors may be a good idea, actually. In terms of the staff, I've found them friendly and approachable - no eye rolls even when I procrastinate about what to choose. Go try it for yourself, it's great!
One needs to appreciate the 60's kind of "Alice's Reasturant" approach a la "soup Natsi" of this tiny jewel on East Avenue. And yes getting decent flavor into lentle soup is a challenge. It sure is not in the lentle s themselves. Several suggestions for this... As I tried making at home last week. 1) if you want flavor you must add more spice and salt than you might think 2) 2 onces of whiskey or if you preferr red Vermont goes a long way to improving bland lentle s 3) for spice there is the Mediterranean direction which Aladon's uses so well cumin and anise seed or I think true red have rain papricka works wonders and does not add unnesessary heat. Lentle s are not intended to taste like me I an so avoid the cayenne stick with other flavors. Peace
I think you nailed it Eric. Candice was better last night. I didn't mind the judges at all this season. The shoes were way too high. The songs too lame. Frankly, i am thrilled the season is over. Exhausting!
They were extremely boring. Their stupid 5 inch heels crippled them and they could barely get down the stairs. They stood in one spot and moved their arms up and down. Crappy song choices, creepy arrangements and zero excitement. I couldn't even listen to the judges. Worst season ever. The singers on the Voice are a million times more interesting and the coaches are GREAT.
I loved them both, but Candice performance was better. I hope Candice wins. I voted 527 times.
I guess this is a good thing, with the jobs it will bring. Satellite transit center? Nobody takes public transit around here unless they're poor and without a car. All I can think of when I see the map is, man, look at all the parking lots. Rochester is just a suburb of Marketplace Mallville.
Nowhere does the author mention the fact that the cost of cleaning up these brownfields is hardly ever paid for by the polluters themselves. Instead, it's the taxpayers that have to foot the bill. Ain't capitalism great?

Where was Superman when we needed him most?!
