When my beloved Fujiya closed I was heart broken, but was thrille dto find out that their sushi is still offered at their market down the street: Bento-Ya. Definite staple in our house.
We also revisited the Plum House after a multi year hiatus (moved from Park Ave neighborhood to Webster) and we were really, REALLY pleased with their rolls.

We are huge sushi lovers and you did not list our favorite place, Plum House! Their sushi is excellent and they now offer Ramen which is delicious. This list is great though and gives us some new options to try, as Plum House and Shiki are our go-to places! :)

Not Visited Yet: Thanks for the comment. It appears that the restaurant has changed the approach to that dish, because the fritters we sampled and shot for this article -- which are photographed at the top -- did indeed include sauerkraut (I personally tried one and recalled that flavor distinctly). But you are right; the website now lists the dish differently and at a different price.

The reuben fritters on menu describe something very different from the description in this article ( and the price $ 9.50 / $ 8.50 )

Whatta Banh Mi foresaked their cheap eats heritage, and what made them great, popular, successful, unique, by increasing the cost of their signature sandwich by almost four dollars. It now comes with one eggroll and a soda product of some kind. As the owner, Jake, said, "it was an up-sale." Not only this, but the sandwich is now limited to lunch hours. He has increased his menu with a confusion hill of sushi rolls, vietnamese soups, and thai inspired appetizers. The new amalgamation is not without its warm surprises. Heaping skewer plates and accompanying ingredients. But, is without the ability to go into this restaurant with your friends and kill some awesome sandwiches on the cheap before going out, or before going in, that makes the whole nature of my sentiments of the place slightly wilt for me .

Tried McColley's last night - food is amazing, prices are good, pretty decent brew selection. I'm hoping to see more brews on tap in the near future; however, there is a good sized bottled list. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. McColley's is fairly small, but the friendly greeter helped quell the threshold traffic jam. The only downfall was our server. She was inattentive, confused, and took more time to talk up her other server job at a different venue than making sure we were set with food and drinks. Very unprofessional. Our greeter, though, checked on us several times and even made our son laugh. We'll be back but we will be sure to be seated in a different server's station, if we see her there again. It's about time the westside got a friendly neighborhood pub like McColley's. We deserve it!

Halal market makes some pretty fine meatballs - cooked in the café or raw for takeout.

I believe that Black and Blue still has some pretty awesome kobe beef meatballs on their menu too.

Rubino's pre-made meatballs are also pretty awesome in their own right.

Skylark's food is one of the biggest hidden gems of the city. Thanks for bringing them to the spotlight! The atmosphere to the place is awesome, the beer/cider selection is fantastic, and their creamed spinach is amazing too.

Almost can't beat Sabor de la Isla on Norton Street with their generous plates of chicken, beef, pork, or fish stews plus rice and beans. Under $6 for a small (and it's actually good-sized). A medium plate is about $7 and also includes another side, then the large is about $8 - so much food, and so very good!
