Re: “VOTE NOW: Best of Rochester 2014 Primary Ballot

I'd like to vote ."Best of Rochester" the worst online poll I've seen. All the links to vote are dead end . Just like Rochester

Re: “VOTE NOW: Best of Rochester 2014 Final Ballot

Hi Rachel, the final ballot is still running. It should appear when you tap the "Click Here" link within the above story. If you have already taken the poll, though, it will not show up, but will say, "Thank you for completing City Newspaper's Best of Rochester survey."

I know that the voting is over but I can't even see the ballot anymore. Is there a way to do so?

Re: “VOTE NOW: Best of Rochester 2014 Final Ballot

City has received several comments and questions about the inclusion into our poll of the coverage of slain officer Daryl Pierson. The nomination is located in our Local News Story category. Officer Pierson's death is without a doubt a tragedy, and one that is still being felt and discussed in Rochester.

Our annual reader's poll is driven solely by readers, and in our first round of balloting, readers submit the nominations. Those that received the most nominations are included in our final poll. City operates only as tabulator and gatekeeper to make sure the final nominations fit within the correct categories.

The coverage of officer Pierson's death was our highest nominated submission for Local News Story, by a considerable margin. Coverage of the event was broad and pronounced for nearly two weeks, and it was one of the most significant events that occurred this year. Our readers called for its inclusion in the final poll, and because of its noteworthy nature, we've left the story in the poll but have changed the category title to "Most Significant Local News Story.

Re: “VOTE NOW: Best of Rochester 2014 Final Ballot

I would love to see the best of rochester voting rolled out over a longer period of time or split up into different sections. It is pretty overwhelming to vote for over 100 different categories, but if you launched each section on its own and then released all the tallies at the party I think it would be more manageable.

Re: “VOTE NOW: Best of Rochester 2014 Final Ballot

As a human being, I'm offended by the notion that the death of Officer Pierson is "possibly the worst tragedy Rochester has ever seen." Honestly, what world are you people living in?

Re: “VOTE NOW: Best of Rochester 2014 Final Ballot

I think it is in bad taste and disrespectful to list the death of Officer Pierson in a category on this contest. This was possibly the worst tragedy Rochester has ever seen, and while his family continues to grieve, should we really be listing this on a contest to vote? Please take it down

It is true, she has been working both Boulder Coffee in store and the Java's Coffee Truck (not Java's Cafe in store)
