In defense of shallow insignificance? Now there's a unique position I would have never predicted.
Rochester New York is a far cry from D.C. Just like common sense is a FAR cry from stupidity.
I live in the South Wedge and my partner owns a bar in the area. I have recently been victim to car vandalisms, car break in, and home robbery. We'd like to be involved in any planning to make our neighborhood a safe place.
I like the changes made by the D&C. Before the change, everyone at lunch would pass sections of the D&C around, look through them quickly and pass them on. Now we all manage to find something of interest to read.
I would say that in 2013, quality over quantity does not apply to print news media. With few exceptions, everyone has cut the number and quality of stories. So, especially in the case of the D&C, quantity makes things more palatable without an increase of quality. Now, at least, the D&C can be a part of my news gathering.
I would love to be a part of this. My partner and I bought a house in the heart of the Wedge and I would like to help keep it safe.
MJN: I love republicans who come to the light and become Democrats. We need more of them, especially in the County. I say, "Welcome!"
Thanks, Christine. Totally understand. Look forward to hearing more about this and the progress the group makes - I also agree that that park at the corner of Alexander and South has become a trouble spot and prized location for people hanging out and drinking.
The meeting is not open to the public; this is a very early, planning meeting. I left out the location so people wouldn't be tempted to show up anyway.
I live up the hill from the South Wedge and may be interested in attending the meeting. Can you update with specifics of when and where the meeting will be held? Thanks.
I don't understand their vehement opposition to this plan, not least because the people who could afford these condos (people like my empty-nest parents) are likely to be avid visitors (and donors) to the Eastman House.
The hypocrisy of the Eastman House continues. Having tried to fast shuffle the Monroe Voiture veterans club last time around and having been caught in the act, now they try to derail any other use of the property they believe they have a god-given right to possess.
A pity that City Newspaper's management is unable to objectively report on the Morgan proposal.
Larry Champoux - Richards never registered as a Democrat until he was picked by Duffy to be his successor. And Duffy was a life-long Republican until he cynically switched parties to run for mayor.
On the other hand Warren has always been a registered Democrat.
So if party labels are that important to you, then you should be backing Warren.
Really, Chris. If you think this is mortifying, you better toughen up. Halloween is just around the corner.
What's there to be mortified about? It's no secret that they both support Tom. The Independence Party Chair is the one who ought to be embarrassed.
Ooh...code enforcement in Irondequoit. There's a novel concept. Cars habitually parked on lawns & right-of-way are all too common.
You can be a good Democrat and vote for Tom Richards on the Independence line because Tom Richards is a good Democrat too, and you can be certain there are many Democrats who plan to do just that.

Clint - News flash !!!! Parker doesn't appoint her replacement. He (or she) will be elected by the Board of Directors of the RBA. And by my count that's over 50 business men and women. And these people are professionals, not Parker's stooges.
So while Duffy's no rocket scientist, his qualifications for the job are sufficient so that he doesn't need Parker's backing. And certainly not enough to pay a half million bucks for a house that he wouldn't have bought anyway.
But if as you state Duffy can't fully represent the RBA because of restrictions resulting from his service as Jr. Ass't Governor then why would he go after the job in the first place?
As to not using a realtor, so what? I sold my parents home several years ago without using one either.
Oh, by the way, your conspiracy angle with the Parker home sale only works if Duffy was paying well above market value (i.e. a bribe). But the story being circulated by another group of conspiracy nuts is that he UNDERpaid for it.
[UPDATED] Gary Walker, Molly Clifford and Ken Warner exposed for their covert efforts.
Okay, City and MJN...lets try this. An isider deal for Duffy to be the head of RBA got derailed by too much media scrutiny. Lets ask the obvious...Sandy says she is staying, but, will she publically say there is no inside deal to bring Duffy on? How about a direct question..."Does your sale of your home to Duffy, conflict him out of applying for the job?" Now, I am not saying that there was insider baseball here...but, the fact base is kind of scary. Bob Duffy buys the house of the lady that is leaving the job...and, they do not use a realtor. And, then, she sponsors him to replace her at RBA...then the media looks closely and she decides that she will work for another year or so.
Here is my take...Sandy had a deal with Duffy. He bought and paid for the job. Then people started to pay attention...so, they called time out till the dust settles! Ouch!
