Re: ““RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 6: The RuCap, OR Lessons Learned from S6

Cork that whine. Editing can't put words in their mouths and International exposure won't take bread off their tables. Hiring managers understand editing (hopefully) and if their clientele want a particular queen, demand trumps edit. There's more to these "poorly edited" queens than their alleged bitchy persona. They also portrayed C.U.N.T, which helped them get on the show and will help after. So you'd be wrong to assume some tragic career post-RPDR based on editing.

Re: ““RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 6: The RuCap, OR Lessons Learned from S6

These are great lessons! Especially about the editing. This season focused way more on the "TV" of Reality TV than it did the "Reality".

I think Santino's voice is what keeps him around. I like hearing a deep booming bass of a voice after listening to shrieking Adore/Gia/Ben voices. If they replace him, they just need someone with an equally pleasing sound.

The other reality show that pertains to your last lesson might just be the one this show is pretty much based on, America's Next Top Model. It's easier for bitches there to get booked obviously because they're not really getting booked through the fans, but through agencies. So in that respect, the girls with the bitch edits from drag race have a harder time. I'm sure girls like Phi Phi and Roxxxy know this all too well. But that's kind of what u sign up for when u join reality tv, you sign away the future perception of yourself to editors.

Re: “"Breaking Bad": The good and bad of the finale

Open ended: What about the Lily of the valley plant. Walter had discarded it..so when and how did Jesse realize it had been used by Walt?
Open ended: Why did the neo nazi Jack's family come to do the hit even though Walt said not to.
Open ended:What happened to Walt's money? (a camera pan to a shot of it's location would have been great.. ) Jesse left without a thing except an old car..but it would have been nice to see him with a stash of cash somewhere in the car to leave and start over with.
Open ended: Brock left alone..wouldn't Jesse go look for him? or wonder about him?
I think one of those "where they ended up" montages would have been wonderful. Especially since the show already ended.

Re: ““RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 6, Episode 12: Sissy That Walk

How many knew that the "big" girl would not make the top three. How any "big" girls have there been? The only "big" girl that made it past half time was Latrice Royale and she, like Darienne was eliminated from the top four.

Darienne never had a chance to get in the top three. Bianca also has no chance of winning. The question is will Ru go with the on-the-nose queen (Courtney) or will she crown the quirkly Adore.

I have a feeling that it will be Courtney, simply because it good business to crown the foreigner. I remember when Tyra Banks ANTM had the Brits against the Americans. Predictably, Sophie the Brit, beat out the better American model, Laura.

When the season first started, I knew that the top two would be Adore and Courtney simply because of their previous celebrity.

Re: ““RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 6, Episode 12: Sissy That Walk

I find it strange that no one has commented on the fact that Bianca and RuPaul's BFF Lady Bunny do a show together in NYC. I'm not sure how long they've been working together, but I get the impression it's been a while. I think there's no way Bianca's not going to win, and while I do agree that she's talented, polished, etc, I definitely think that having the contacts that she does helps her cause enormously (and possibly unfairly). Maybe Bianca's been getting such a flawless edit this season for that very reason?

As far as I can see, her triumph's been a foregone conclusion since the minute she first walked in the workroom, just like it was for fellow industry-insider Raja in Season 3.

Re: ““RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 6, Episode 12: Sissy That Walk

I like the top 3 although I thought the same as most people about Ben DeLa not deserving that elimination.
I liked DeLa, I like Courtney and I like Adore but if anyone else but Bianca wins this season I'll be seriously disappointed. I don't want to be reading things like "Bianca didn't really need the crown blah blah she's already a winner blah blah" because she DESERVES to win.
They changed what they did in previous seasons (up to and including season 3) when they would allow the most deserving queen the win of the week's challenge because it was making it obvious who was going to be crowned and I understand that but at the same time Bianca could have easily won Snatch Game, was great at Oh no she betta don't, could have won "Glamazon by ColorEvolution", etc. They just decided to give the win to other Queens so that they can justify them getting further in the competition.

Bianca is the most polished, most deserving of the crown. I've been watching RPDR since season 1 and had I never been so taken by a Queen from day 1. I loved Bianca since the moment she stepped into the workroom.
#TeamBianca all the way!

Re: ““RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 6, Episode 12: Sissy That Walk

David K.
You are spot on with the whole, "You don't own drag." There is no set brand on drag. There is A Ru~Paul brand. Thus the name of the show. The real drag super stars are drag Queens and Kings that are rasing money for charties. The ones that entertain us and make a living at Drag. RuPaul winners where are they now? We just have to pay more now to see them because they were on Ru-Paul. I respect all drag entertainers. They work hard at perfecting there craft.

Re: “Theater Review: RBTL's "Phantom of the Opera"

I think it is actually the production that is flawed, not the story (if it were the latter, why would it have lasted over a century?). Go and watch Hal Prince's original production if you haven't already, and you'll find yourself completely immersed. It is far superior than this poor attempt at money-saving.

Re: ““RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 6, Episode 12: Sissy That Walk

So, it’s all about the Benjamin’s.

Santino either committed the cardinal sin of reality show production or was simply stating the obvious. It’s about the brand. It’s about making deals and foreign markets. It’s about the money. This has been obvious from day one of this season.

In years past it was ‘Who can best represent you (Ru) and be the next Supermodel of the world?’.

But now, as we’ve seen in each episode of this season, it’s “There’s $100.000 dollars at stake, are you worthy?” Ru even said this during the one-on-one luncheon. It was an odd moment and very cringe worthy, almost said with spite and contempt. Or was that true drag queen “T’?

Granted that’s what successful producing is all about, but usually it’s done behind the scenes away from the half-assed compassion that’s supposed to be projected. Or maybe just hammering away at the money being dangled in front of them makes them more competative, who knows.

Adore is charming but a mess, and yes, too young. Keeping her in the show means we’ll get the young/annoying/wannabes to continue to audition and bring an whiney conflict into the mix. More Gia’s and Laqangs. Freakin Great. Who can’t get enough of ‘This shit’s getting real!’ DUH.

Bianca is talented, almost too talented and experienced. And good god girl, that make-up. Do a little research and you’ll find she make some damn good coin already in NYC. And although no one want’s to miss out on $100K, it seems like the show would be better off having her as a mentor to the new queens ala Michele V. The one really nice thing Ru seems to do is take care of fan fav’s by keeping them employed and out hawking her name and brand – Pandora being the prime example.

Michele, who by the way if you’ve checked her blogs and twats, er tweets, has been trying to get her own show for the past few years. She’s a company girl who plays ball if it gets her what she wants. She’s the biggest critic in front of the camera but pulls a sweet, almost sickening attitude behind the scenes. In other words ‘It’s not my fault. I love them all’. Gag. Bianca would be so much better at this.

Then there’s Caught-In-The-Act. Clever no? NO. But she personifies the brand. I watch the show with my 10 year old niece who got me back into the fold after I quit during season 1 when Ongina was booted over Beebe. And although 10 years old, she hit the nail on the head when she said ‘why don’t’ they just give her a show back in Australia?’

She watch’s the poorly edited TV version, then while watching her after school while her mother works a late shift, we watch the downloaded un-cut version. Please, no criticism. She goes to Catholic school and told me all the ‘bleeped’ out words before we even started watching together (and in a side note she wants to be Ben for Halloween. Ben with a ‘meaty tuck’ that is. God bless her twisted little heart).

Anyway, it’s the same mindset as season one - who can enhance the brand? Ongian, although the more talented couldn’t draw in a foreign audience like an exotic African born queen can. Beside Ongian’s HIV status could possibly be a dividing force in foreign markets.

Too critical and harsh? YES. But that’s how producers think.

This isn’t a competition, it’s a business. A game the players know the rules to before the cameras even roll. So Caught-In-The-Act will be crowned. Not because she’s a fan favorite or the best but because she’ll sell tickets in foreign venues and more importantly, get RPDR on the air in more markets. Sissy That Walk gurl, for It’s all about the Benjamin’s.

Re: ““RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 6, Episode 12: Sissy That Walk

David, that's not what Courtney was referring to. Courtney has already proven herself here in Australia and IS a drag superstar in Australia. However, she has had to prove herself in the USA, and by being crowned America's drag superstar, would give validation and reward for her extremely hard work and talent.

If you recall in one of the earlier episodes of Untucked, Courtney spoke about how she had a breakdown back home in Australia, and from then she made a conscious effort to approach life in a different light, which has made her what she is today. Yes, it's a shame she did not show that vulnerability onstage, and if she had, the judges would have seen Courtney in a different light and understood more her journey to who she is today. I have met Courtney (as both Courtney and Shane), and I have to say that she is a humble person that has refined her craft.

I will be looking forward to Adore and Bianca touring Australia, and I believe that Trinity will be here in the next few weeks. Guuurl she's got some moves!

I believe that the top three have an equal chance in winning. They each have their own unique flavour that shines. It will be a tough call and I will be sitting at the edge of my seat to see who is crowned America's next drag superstar!

The reunion is taping in L.A. today, not next week. It will air in two weeks when the queens will be in Las Vegas for the coronation party.

Re: ““RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 6, Episode 12: Sissy That Walk

Wow, Miss Courtney totally blew it with that speech. Basically, she was so polished she didn't need this whole experience! According to her, the entire season was pointless as she should have been crowned before it started. This is now a two way race and a classic Eve Harrington scenario. I hope Bianca wins because Eve, er, Adore, is not ready. Here is my rant though: Santino's comment really got to me: Bianca might not be "good for the brand"?!? Dear Ru, Michelle, Santino & this quickly becoming formulaic to the point of tired show: though you claim the winner will be America's Next Drag Superstar-YOU DO NOT OWN DRAG. You are piggybacking on an old and wonderful tradition and you should be grateful and bow down to it daily since it pays your damn bills. So therefore it is not your "brand" and get over yourself.

Re: ““Game of Thrones” Season 4, Episode 5: First of His Name

David: I absolutely think that will happen. Likely at the end of this season. That plot element is too crucial to cut out, I think.

Willie: As for Coldhands, he may NOT be crucial. We honestly don't know, based on the books published thus far. His role has been basically to get Bran where he needs to go, and to give readers a bit of mystery/conspiracy-theory bait. I do hope he comes in sooner rather than later, as I find him interesting. But there's another character involved in that arc that I'm WAY more interested in seeing, especially after reading the "Dunk & Egg" stories.

Um I don't know if this is a spoiler free blog, but without saying too much, I wondered if you think Brienne is going to run into Lady you-know-who, like she does in the books?

Re: ““Game of Thrones” Season 4, Episode 5: First of His Name

Not that this should be taken as fact, but apparently some of the actors were asked and said that Coldhands isn't showing up in Bran's story at all in the show.

Obviously *if* he was they wouldn't announce it like that, so I'm still a bit hopeful, but we'll see.

Yes, really.

I'm surprised there was anything left to burn at Craster's Keep after all the scenery Gorman chewed.
