Re: “CHOW HOUND: Setting the bar

Tried McColley's last night - food is amazing, prices are good, pretty decent brew selection. I'm hoping to see more brews on tap in the near future; however, there is a good sized bottled list. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. McColley's is fairly small, but the friendly greeter helped quell the threshold traffic jam. The only downfall was our server. She was inattentive, confused, and took more time to talk up her other server job at a different venue than making sure we were set with food and drinks. Very unprofessional. Our greeter, though, checked on us several times and even made our son laugh. We'll be back but we will be sure to be seated in a different server's station, if we see her there again. It's about time the westside got a friendly neighborhood pub like McColley's. We deserve it!

Re: “ROUND UP: The ground round

Halal market makes some pretty fine meatballs - cooked in the café or raw for takeout.

I believe that Black and Blue still has some pretty awesome kobe beef meatballs on their menu too.

Rubino's pre-made meatballs are also pretty awesome in their own right.

"As much as we may not want to admit it, Rochester is pretty well known for its meats."

Huh? We should be embarrassed about good meat?

Re: “ROUND UP: The ground round

Skylark's food is one of the biggest hidden gems of the city. Thanks for bringing them to the spotlight! The atmosphere to the place is awesome, the beer/cider selection is fantastic, and their creamed spinach is amazing too.

Re: “DINING REVIEW: Fraiche Bistro and Dessert Bar

My wife and I enjoyed every bit of our meal here, including dessert. The prices might scare the young crowd around the East End, but this is sophisticated cuisine with complex flavors. Don't wait, this is the real deal.

Re: “DINING REVIEW: Rio Tomatlan

Amazing food, great drinks with a warm cozy ambience! Raphael chats with his customers like guests in his home. Wonderful service, a true tribute to his mother that has el Rincon in Sodus!

Re: “DINING REVIEW: Fraiche Bistro and Dessert Bar

Good review - except for the French headline which should read: C'est bon (misplaced apostrophe). Oops!

Re: “DINING REVIEW: Nikko

So glad you spotlighted this restaurant... they have terrific food (sushi, in my opinion is the best in the city), fun drinks and a great ambiance. I never knew about the happy hour special on rolls, so thanks for that information too. :-)

Re: “DINING REVIEW: Esan Thai

Esan is one of Rochester's little pearls. The food is wonderful, the environment is simple, and the owners treat you like you're a member of their family. There are many choices in this area, but only one Esan.

Re: “DINING REVIEW: Esan Thai

Wow. I am shocked by this review. First of all Esan is thai vietnamese so where rochester, Bangkok and New York meets comes from baffles me. Maybe doing a little homework before your visit may help! Esan is the best Thai restaurant in Rochester run by the most kind and precious family who work so hard and employ the best staff in town. It completely dissapoints me that somebody culturaly inept is doing these reviews. Next time stick to burger and fries!

Re: “DINING REVIEW: Esan Thai

I appreciate the background info but more than half the article has nothing to do with the review. Very dull.

Re: “DINING REVIEW: Esan Thai

Esan was certainly not the first. Off the top of my head, the Bangkok and Mamasan's predate Esan and I think there might be one or two more.

"Named in honor of Schram's farmer parents, Harvest Café also serves lunch, with the midday meal receiving the same attention to detail as the morning one." Their name was Harvest?

Re: “DINING REVIEW: Tap & Table

I think this is a completely fair review. I have enjoyed the beautiful location and ambiance and of course the beer selections and service are top notch, but I haven't had one outing (of around 5 total) that wasn't punctuated by a misfire on one or more cocktails or food pairings for myself or one of my companions. I love Joe's passion for his work and adore the Tap and Mallet. I believe Tap and Table will do just fine (it certainly seems to be already) but I think it has some way to go to reach its full promise.
