These guys are a great! I've seen them plenty of times and every time is a blast.
Matt: Those seem like pretty solid bets, I agree. Whether you like or loathe Lana Del Rey, "Young and Beautiful" was such an integral part of "The Great Gatsby"'s music that I'll be surprised if it isn't nominated as well. After that, I'll be intrigued if Coldplay nabs a spot for "Atlas," I've heard "The Butler" has several original songs (but I haven't seen it yet), and then there's always one that shows up outta left field that's usually the best, most interesting one. ;)
"Let It Go" has to win Best Original Song come Oscar time. Either that or "I See Fire" from "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug."
hard to find show times.
Last-minute lineup change: Tin Can Set (facebook.com/tincanset) will open the show - Grey Zine won't be playing.
Fowls' debut album will be available for the first time at this show: http://www.bettyelmrecords.com/stream-tracks-from-fowls-into-the-wild/

James Feddeck was not born in Israel, nor does he reside in Florence, Italy.
Going to be a great Saturday night at Abilene ... the Younger Gang at 7, Ruckus Juice Jug Stompers' Fifth Anniversary Bash starting around 8:30,
Sorry Stone, Mr. Deblase is absolutely right. If you think the Kenny Chesney concert you saw was legit Country, God Bless Ya! Good for you. I'm glad you had fun and I'm glad you like music. To each his own. But Kenny Chesney is basically Britney Spears with a cowboy hat on. I'm glad you had a good time holding your girlfriend or boyfriends hand during the show. Like I said. To each his own. ROCK ON FRANK!!!
Love them! Great fold that everyone can enjoy. Awesome front man.
T.H.I.E.F.S is lovely song, i like so much.
So let me see if I get this.... supposed music expert and self professed rock fan goes to a Kenny Chesney concert expecting to hear something sounding like Hank Williams and leaves disapointed when he hears something that sounds like rock? Sorry Mr. Deblase, that was a country concert you attended. That is what country sounds like today. No it doesn't sound like the country music of 40 years ago (recently adobpted as "hip" by those who once routinely mocked it) but then rock music today does not sound like The Beatles and the Beach Boys anymore either. Any popular music form must continually bring in new, younger fans or suffer the fate of once very popular forms such as doo wop and big band. Even though the cranky old guys will swear it is no longer what it is, just because it doesn't sound the way they want it to sound forever and always (is there a more fervantly personal art form than music?)
Lucky for us all, it is not cranky old guys who get to determine which forms of music become and remain popular.
That wasn't a very good review Frank :(
Great review! Definitely a good night at Bug Jar. I was surprised by Tugboat... Serious skills and he went over really well with the rock crowd, and yeah... The Branch Davidians destroyed, completely. The other bands were a good listen, and I think the venue deserves credit for consistently putting together good shows.
Frank Great Review!!! I don't understand why anyone should be mad because you wrote a review. Kaylin is an excellent kid and now feels bad that others are upset. I have been involved in music all my life, and I do know that not everyone gets a review all the time. Sometimes reviews are good, sometimes not so good, and sometimes there is no review. That is the way the cookie crumbles, or "That's show bus!!". I personally thought that everyone did a nice job, but again this is the way it sometimes works. Kaylin has been performing and promoting herself for many years and it was nice to see the review. For those who do not know, Kaylin writes her own songs, sings, plays guitar and plays piano. The band are friends of hers and she has many other friends that she has performed with over the years. The idea is to keep playing and enjoying what you do. It is not the review that is important.
Yes, Frank. If you can't cover every performance by every band, nothing shuld be written at all.
Wow! I've always heard of the Rochester music scene being biased and play favorites and this truly shows it. The other three acts did just as good, if not better. Thank you for keeping this music scene nuturing and giving everyone a chance. That was sarcasm.
Hey Frank: Were you there for the entire show or show up late for work? All four acts were awesome and each deserve credit. But the one who impressed me the most was Emma Lane. Not only were her original songs well written, but she showed diversity. She can write, sing AND play. Can Kaylin say that??? Anyone can sound good with a band behind them!
