Welcome neighbors! Stop by 6 atlas street some time
Christine – I agree. Why would anyone suspect City of stacking the deck by their coverage of the Morgan project merely because Ms. Towler has already stated her NIMBY opposition to their proposal? Or because City recently opted for repetitive use of a photo of the Eastman House’s Mr. Barnes despite having used neutral photos of the property in past reports? Or because the Eastman House’s land grab is given current and repeated coverage whereas the opposition from the property owner is relegated to the occasional past mention buried deep within an article?
“So let's repudiate those who are trying to obstruct the victory that Ms. Warren will rightfully claim on November 5.”
Is this the same Bill Johnson who a couple of weeks ago was encouraging Warren’s supporter to go to the polls next month because her election WASN’T a foregone conclusion given the advent of the Richards’ shadow campaign?
Though voting is important, I detect a hint of sour grapes in that people didn't come out to vote for the "right" candidate, ie. Tom Richards. But I agree with the sentiment of voting. However after that, we all need to be quiet. This is a representative democracy, not the Athenian Assembly. Our opinion is irrelevant until the next election.
As they say in the meat processing business, no matter how you package it, it's still baloney!
Teaches you perception is reality and the complex problem is when you don't understand the perceptions others have for you, your country or your cause. More often than not were too caught up in the culture shock and cannot comprehend that there are cultures out there that differ from our own and that ours is not the best, none is better or worse.
Thanks for your comments. I fixed the post so it includes the correct info for the proposed raise.
Ha! Who said Tom Richards' projects don't bring jobs downtown?
It was just not the issue of 18% over six years, the wording in the contract needs to be redefined . It's also about Wegmans taking work from us and giving it to outside vendors, taking delays away which means loss of money, there are times when you break down and your stuck for hours we would normally get paid road delay, or going to pickup a backhaul and having to wait hours on end for the load which we would normally get paid for. Lets not forget the middle man nothing in the contract for them! The Wegmans family wants to take money from us , would they like it if someone took money from them? The Pension is huge for a lot of member's who have put the time and money in and have 25-29 years in and get nothing! is that right?
18% is a six year raise and that is the only money some of these guys will see from their pension. There is no moving over to Wegmans Retirement it is starting over with Wegmans Retirement. The only ones talking strike are Wegmans themselves. None of the Union members have said strike. The rejection of any offer gives the Union that right so this was not a special vote to also strike.
Today’s lesson, boys and girls, is on Plastics, itsy bitsy, teeny weeny, bits of plastics. Where besides oceans can you find them? Great Lakes, that’s right! And who put them there? We did, that’s right. And, are they likely to make fish and our drinking water healthier? No, boys and girls, they will not.
The amount of entitlement demonstrated by the GEH is absolutely appalling and embarrassing. I went to the meeting they held on this last year - their biggest reason for opposing Morgan Management was because their "viewscape" is apparently in danger and they need more parking. Downtown is already 50-60% parking; the last thing this city needs is more goddamn parking lots. The GEH is angry because they had a chance to acquire this property but were "asleep at the wheel" (those were the exact words the director used.) So now because of their past carelessness they're acting like a bunch of entitled crybabies. Get over yourselves.
your election guide is a joke, yes return the same old same old. fill in our inner loop spend 20 million dollars on a beauty project?? spend 30 million dollars on condos in a public park??? the list goe s on and on with these city council members maybe the problem is they are all lawyers. they sell off rochester piece by piece to developers but you suppor this because they fund your paper!!!yes richards is behind all this with his buddy duffy!!!

Sorry, Ben Lewis. The conspiracy doesn't hold water. We have written about the GEH's failed attempt to acquire the property more than once. Here's one such story: http://www.rochestercitynewspaper.com/roch…
And another: http://www.rochestercitynewspaper.com/roch…
As for the art? It was all I had available at the moment I put up the piece.
Interesting that every time City posts an article about the Morgan Project we see the same mug shot of Mr. Barnes. But we never hear about how the Eastman House had a chance to obtain the property in question but lost out after attempting to double shuffle the current property owners, the veterans group Monroe Voiture (who by the way now oppose the Eastman House’s efforts).

Hey City--Your censorship of this conversation is pretty agregious, especially for an "alternative" paper. Let the people have their dialogue without your petty interference.
ROCstar--your comments sound a lot like what Molly said to Jim Lawrence, detailed in his editorial, "Molly Takes Exception". http://blogs.democratandchronicle.com/edit…
Glad all you City Hall "turnoutforTom" operatives are using the same talking points. Message discipline is key for these astroturf efforts. ROCStar, everyone knows you are the man behind the curtain.
