I didn't get the memo and have no idea when the season actually ends...other than knowing it is soon! So, I was surprised. Have to admit that I really don;t want anybody to go home.....well, that's a lie....i wouldn't mind if Angie went. (but that won;t happen being poster child for american girl and all)
it has been fun this season when they bring on the real artist on the judging night. Drake was sweet and everyone seemed so thrilled. Ratings move?

Why did the TARDIS show Clara herself? Because the TARDIS is a female, and it doesn't like her...probably because of the Doctor's inordinate interest in her. It projected her image as "the thing she esteems most" as an insult. True or not doesn't matter, at least not to a TARDIS scorned.

A fact missing from this account is that Rochester has more schools of education per capita than any other city in the country in an area with steady K-12 enrollment decline. And despite what Dr. Hursch thinks, many are diploma mills and have taken no responsibility for the lack of quality of their graduates' teaching. Another fact missing is that none of the private ed schools in Rochester were willing to submit data on their admissions in a national study on the quality of teacher prep programs. http://www.nctq.org/transparency.do?stateId=33. Easy to claim you are selective and fabulous in the dark. These college kids are taking on a lot of debt--they deserve to know about the quality of their teacher prep program.

Little more than a boy? He's a 19 year old man, accountable for his deplorable actions in the 1st degree. Why it was done has already been established; he's a muslim terrorist, like ALL anti-Western Muslim terrorists. Their mass hatred for all Jews and Gentiles has been in exsistance for thousands of years. Why do you wish to make out this criminal as "a poor boy who can be rehabilitated with a dose of Western Liberalism? He's am enemy of the state and as such, should be treated and executed as one!

Thanks for your comment. If you go to the New York State Education Department website, there is a reference to requirements for "provisional" and "permanent certification." The point I was trying to make: becoming a teacher doesn't end with a 4-year degree; it's an ongoing, time-intensive, and costly process.

oops....and one more thing: If there is any truth to the winner of American Idol totally being manipulated from behind the scenes: then Angie is their girl. She has the look , she's vanilla & she's a bit of a Girl Scout.

The judges kept saying last night that it wasn't about their voices anymore. has to be the 'right' song, bring out their emotion blahblahblah. They have a point tho....as their voices are all excellent. So much can go wrong tho:
Amber: 'Power of Love" & "McArthur Park"...both totally didn;t fit her. Voice pristine. She looked great. Nikki said she looked like a big glass of sexy milk when singing the Celine Dion song.
Candice: "Emotion" & something forgettable by Drake. Voice fabulous...a weird arrangement of one of the songs and she ended up missing the melody. lack lustre performance compared to other weeks. Also, she has a cold/
Angie: The judges praised her but I totally didn't hear it. She sang her beloved Jessie J and I just don;t like that overly emotional stuff that just isn't enjoyable music to me. Then, "Cry me a River" which was better but so overdone and I don;t think she brought anything new to the table.
Kree: sort of blew it with both. Jimmie said that one bluesy number has been sung 100 x and he is right....then sang "A Whiter Shade of Pale"...great tune, lovely voice but I've already forgotten the performance.
Duets: Amber/Kree...voices good, song of Adelle's (& did you say this? I never want to hear another Adelle song at these shows)..kind of a quiet job....
Candance/Angie: Stay (Rhianna). I took a Gravol before this performance but the girls rose to the occasion and both belted out their sides and did a bit of a Diva thang.
The judges generally were all over Angie. I didn't get it at all....then, I don;t get her...or her crying grandmother who was brought on stage. I think dear Kree may be in the bottom in terms of worst performance of the 4.

Google Deliberately Dumbing Down and see what Charlotte Iserbyte oberved in the Education Dept. in the 80's. She was fired for being outspoked. This was No child Left Behind and ELA and Math testing (teaching for the test).

Cathy: Alas, no "Idol" blog today. I returned home last night to discover that my machine did not record a single second of it. I'm going to trouble shoot what went wrong tonight but I'm committing to not being out of the house during "Idol" broadcasts for the next three weeks until the finale. This is fantastic news! Many of the young women served by the YWCA have been hard pressed to continue work and school without this support! A great thank you to our state elected officials for giving low income families a chance to participate in the workforce and add their talents to making NYS a great place to live and work!

Of course Morelle defends his colleagues. His boss, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, signed off on a $103,000 taxpayer-funded settlement with two former staffers of Brooklyn Assemblyman Vito Lopez who accused him of sexual harassment. Nothing to see here.

Scouting was never about sex or sexuality, heterosexuality, homosexuality or other. Radical homosexual activists with an agenda tried to force the BSA, a private organization, to accept their views. It started with attacks on the BSA in San Francisco and spread from there. It got so bad the Boy Scouts were even booed at the Democratic National Convention in August 2000. Even when the Supreme Court ruled that the BSA, as a private organization, could exclude anyone they wanted to, the activists persisted. (You know how persistant these types are; they are same people who disrupted mass at St. Patrick's in New York, throwing condoms and even desecrating a communion host.)
It's sad that there seems to be a need to expose children to adult topics at earlier ages these days. Does sex need to be part of teaching boys about camping, hiking, and swimming? Should the BSA be required to develop a policy and discuss abortion rights? Let's have one place where kids can still be kids.
If there was ever a place for 'don't ask, don't tell' its in scouting. If you are truly interested in helping the scouting program, why do you need to make your sexual preference known? What purpose does it serve other than to push an agenda where it has no place. If you don't like the BSA rules, don't join.

Haven't been to Harry G's yet, but I will offer an opinion or two on what Mr. Leach wrote. The real delis I've enjoyed on Long Island bring a bowl with both sour and half sour pickles and with sour pickled tomatoes and a bowl of cole slaw to the table before bringing water. A Kosher deli cannot, by definition, mix meat and cheese so it is misguided to refer to their proprietors as wrongheaded. IMHO excellent pastrami and corned beef should not be adulterated by cheese or by making them into reubens or their variations. The flavor of the meat is masked rather than enhanced. Nothing against reubens, I just like to savor the deep flavor of the meat. That said, I am looking forward to trying Harry G's pastrami on rye and thank Mr. Leach and City for telling me about the deli.
