The flagship location of Lyjha Wilton’s local mini-chain, Boulder Coffee Co. at Alexander Street and South Clinton Avenue is a great spot to while away some time reading, internetting, digging a band, or gabbing over locally roasted coffee, cocktails, and nibbles like soups, salads, sandwiches, and baked goods. There’s a large patio area, and on Thursday afternoons in the summer the Boulder parking lot hosts the South Wedge Farmers’ Market.

Juke Joint, the sprawling Henrietta outpost of Sticky Lips BBQ, serves the same vittles as its city cousin: starters like fried pickles and catfish strips; soups, salads, sandwiches, and down-home sides; plus ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and grilled chicken, along with some decent vegetarian options. Unlike the Culver Road location, the aptly named Juke Joint features live music as well as a full bar.
From the outside SPoT Coffee looks like a really classy Chevy dealership thanks to its protected Art Deco facade, but inside the Rochester outpost of this growing Buffalo-based chain features sleek leather sofas and love seats that give the airy ground-floor space and the secluded balcony a polished, modern feel. It should come as no shock that SPoT is a spot for coffee and espresso drinks, but there’s also breakfast items, soups, salads, wraps, sandwiches, pizzas, and, of course, dessert, whether it’s a decadent slice of cake or some dunkable biscotti.
Despite the LGBTQ-friendly vibe, Equal=Grounds is no more a gay coffeehouse than it is a straight one. This comfy, funky space is a great option for anyone looking to chat with friends, monkey around on the internet, play a board game, or enjoy a latte with a good book. Equal=Grounds offers light fare, baked goods, hot and cold coffee drinks, smoothies, and ice cream during the warm-weather months.
