Re: “Obama's second term

I find it very refreshing to hear an Obama supporter finally comment on these issues and that she herself is concerned. For too long I have wondered why the same people that protested Bush and his policies sit silently by as Obama carries on the Bush legacy and continues the endless wars, and the destruction of our civil liberties.
Mary Anna finds a bit of hope in this...
"And I found a bit of hope in his hint (and it wasn't much more than that) that his administration might reconsider its counterterrorism approach. He said he wants to be sure that "our targeting, detention, and prosecution of terrorists remains consistent with our laws and system of checks and balances."

Can you not see that this is the carrot the demagogue dangles before you and those others that drive his carriage? Oh wait you can't see it because you have once again put on your blinders for this guy.

I have long wondered why the former anti-war movement seems to have fizzled out now that we have a Democrat in the White House. He is worse than Bush on civil liberties, executive overreach, and warmongering (and Bush was really bad). Where is the outrage? Where are the protests?

On another note, this Obamacare that you all love is reportedly going to severely limit a woman's ability to get an abortion in 21 states as the insurance companies ( that you will be forced to purchase from) will not be covering abortions. Why are you silent about this? Is it because of the other carrots King Obama dangles in front of your carriage?

Maybe it is finally time to support third party candidates, and get our country back from Demagogues and Corporations!

Re: “Feedback 2/13

Mr. Bertolone writes with an "upstanding moral" tone about the rights of workers and at will employment being an evil system. How convenient to point out slavery as it's basis, as anyone who may disagree , could be called a "Racist" as many do that disagree with our President. Does his morality include the freedom to choose who we associate with, and what we do with our own bodies? Using "laws" that are all enforced by government guns, to force someone to retain an employee is immoral! But what does he care, since he is involved in Law Enforcement and can take the moral high ground as the one wielding the government gun that would be pointed at employers, if his proposal were adopted. Keep America free! Free to choose what we do with our own bodies and free to choose our associations!

Re: “ELECTIONS 2012: O'Brien should win Senate slugfest

Thanks for mentioning Mark Glogowski for State Assembly! Most of the time third party candidates are ignored.

Re: “ELECTIONS 2012: Gillibrand has earned second term

Too bad there is no mention of US Senate candidate Chris Edes! He is a ballot qualified candidate from Rochester, born and raised and active in our community. He is on the Board of the GVCLU and the county Chair of SCOPE. Check him out at www.vote-for-chris.net

Re: “Why not ban guns?

"With the corporate take over of our government, and the militarization of our police forces around the country, do you really think that making the second amendment null and void will in anyway contribute to the observance of the other amendments in the Bill of Rights? The Bill of Rights is constantly under attack by our government and the second amendment is meant as a safe guard against government tyranny. The second amendment ensures the rest of our civil liberties."

  • Why not ban guns?

I've found it nearly impossible to avoid thinking about gun control as the stories kept coming over the past few weeks: 12 people killed and 58 wounded in Aurora, Colorado; six killed, three wounded at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin; a security guard shot and wounded at a Family Research Council headquarters in Washington DC...
