This will probably be censored, as so much of the real conversation about the mayor's race:
A hint of sour grapes?
The proportion of Rochester voters has gone largely unchanged--the population is declining, so too then, are absolute votes. Warren won the primary by the largest margin IN HISTORY-- a history that you deem insignificant, apparently. I know for a fact that Warren's camp did a ton of voter reg work. How much do you think Richards did? ZERO, because it wasn't in their interest to register voters.
Where is your outrage about the TurnOUt's unethical campaign practices: their lack of disclosure, the misleading information, not to mention THEIR LACK OF CANDIDATE? And where was your outrage when Duffy defeated Norwood by less than 2,000 votes?
It should be noted that your outrage over voter turnout lines up perfectly with the messaging of the TurnOutForTom crew, Rochester's own Tea Party. CityNews has become their echo chamber, their very own FOX news.
I thought City was the paper for the voiceless, willing to take tough policy stands for the people. You've become a mouthpiece of the establishment.. PERIOD.
Hey City--Your censorship of this conversation is pretty agregious, especially for an "alternative" paper. Let the people have their dialogue without your petty interference.
ROCstar--your comments sound a lot like what Molly said to Jim Lawrence, detailed in his editorial, "Molly Takes Exception". http://blogs.democratandchronicle.com/edit…
Glad all you City Hall "turnoutforTom" operatives are using the same talking points. Message discipline is key for these astroturf efforts. ROCStar, everyone knows you are the man behind the curtain.
Not a big deal, Chris Fien?
-UNICON is a nonprofit, and as such, is barred from political activity...but I guess those pesky IRS rules are for the other guys.
-The Independence Party has not filed a single disclosure report since their Turn Out fundraising campaign. That's a criminal offense which you've neglected to report.
-Gary Walker wrote both the Corryn op-ed and the ambiguous Richards statements--a troubling conflict.
Must be why they call this the silly season! Lovely Warren didn't start campaigning last month, she started campaigning last SPRING. And I know she has already debated Alex White in a public place before now because I was there. Anyone who doesn't know anything about her or her plans by this time, has either been living under a rock or not paying attention. Don't blame her, blame yourself.
Great interview, but hard to read as a Catholic.
Re: “Richards clarifies his intentions, sort of”
Sorry Mr, Mayor, but the phrase "responsibility and honor" doesn't describe the games that you are playing with Rochester citizens. No one is buying your feigned surprise, either--two of the organizers of your passive aggressive campaign work for you. And no one is buying that this is a "grassroots movement"--it's ASTROTURF, funded by Koch brother-types who believe they are above those pesky campaign finance laws that the rest of us have to follow. Wake up Rochester--you're being played by the 1%.
