Re: “Disappointment in medical marijuana law

The criminal element that supplies Marijuana will continue to cultivate it and sell it. It will continue to be unregulated and untaxed. Maybe for the better. Those that currently smoke will still have access to it. The Police will arrest the few offenders that fall through the cracks and the drop in the bucket will continue. We will pay for the minorities in the community that get caught in the bucket that is the drug war to go to prison.

Re: “The Buffalo blues

Simply our lack of support from the State is because Mr. Morrelle and the rest of our local state pols have not done their jobs. Yet each and every one of them will get reelected.

Re: “Police reorg splits Southeast

It doesn't matter how you shuffle the deck. The simple fact is that the Police in Rochester are just not good at community Policing. They for the most part put in what minimal effort as they can. Solving / preventing crime is not a priority amongst the rank and file officers. Getting home to take the kids to soccer practice in Penfield is much more important then doing their jobs. Elmhurst St is one block long and I have never seen a cop drive down it. Ever. In 37 years not once. However on any given day you can find 2/3 RPD cars parked behind School without walls or the Teachers Union building parking lot. Car got broken into? Don't call the Police, they don't investigate crime. You have to go to the NET office and report that...... Strange man peeing in your driveway, they don't have time for that. Kids from the HIgh school hide their weapons in your fence, no time for that. Better to have a eight year old find a gun and bring it home then call the Police, as they don't have time for that. Neighbor is a peeping Tom and is spying on your 12y/o daughter.... No time for that..... I asked Chief Sheppard to explain the function of the Police to me. Him and Elaine Spaull walked away from me....

Re: “Regional schools

Dan Drmacich

How exactly do you expect to get the Parents involved?

Comparing Raliegh NC Metro schools to ours is just silly and irresponsible. Raleighs Economy has been thriving for 25 years our has been in decline for 40. Raliegh has a thriving regional economy with actual opportunities, ours hasn't and is not likely to within the near future. Many of the towns around here have reached a zero growth status and have maxed out there financial resources. All our eggs are in one basket and Wake county has a very diversified economy based on the a thriving university (UNC).

Re: “Rochester wants money to study theater

The problem with the Auditorium Theater is that rich folks from the Suburbs went to a beautiful theater in Toronto with some friends and they feel inadequate when they compare our theater to the one in a major city that actually supports the arts with profits from said art. Those Rich folks from the suburbs could care less about the poverty in the city or the sad state of the schools and what have you. They are rich and only care about themselves. We here in the city should shut them out of the process of determining our course since it is so blatantly self serving. The Mayor fails to learn from the lessons of her predecessors and we will fail right along with her as she panders to the wealthy from the suburbs. If we build the theater do we have any assurances from the RBTL of its success? I say no assurances no theater. Commitments from promoters and the RBTL to be responsible for its costs would convince me that a theater might have a chance at success. We don't need another HIgh Falls/Fast Ferry Pipe dream to fade into another debt disaster as we inch closer to Detroit.
