FROM MY MIND TO YOUR SOUL: THE RETROSPECTIVE
"Ole Toms Need Not Apply"
July 3, 5 and 6, 2019

"Ole Toms Need Not Apply" is a play by C. Kirkland Rivers. It is about an African-American man widely reviled by his own community who finds himself unwittingly not only out of time, but also out of place, when his supposed best friend and landlord evicts tenants to redevelop the neighborhood.

The main character, Thomas J. Savage, is joined on stage by an urban chorus and an ensemble cast. There will be a discussion after each performance of the play.

"Ole Toms Need Not Apply" is the fifth installment of C. Kirkland Rivers play memoir series Backyard Stories from 1018 15th Avenue South.

Admission is $12; $18 at the door. Tickets can also be purchased at Mood Makers Books, Village Gate, 274 N. Goodman St., or https://www.muccc.org.
