The Al-Mutanabbi Street exhibit is a compelling response to a heinous event. On March 5, 2007 there was a bombing that targeted the book seller’s street in Baghdad. 30 people died and over 100 were injured. The sole purpose of this terrorist act was to stop access to books and control information sharing. The library will host 260 original artist books and 50 broadsides. Programs will include Muslim Journeys: Women’s Voices, World Wednesday’s 101 –understanding the basics of the Middle East, Poetry in the reading garden, films, traveling book stalls offering free books and more.
