Rochester sculptor Kyle Blalock has installed his exhibition, "Oculus," in Maker's Gallery for the month of June. Cast bronze and iron are commonly used in Blalock's sculptures, but he also ventures away with materials like leather, walnut, railroad ties, and water. An oculus is known as a round, eye-like opening or design, and the exhibit features many sculptures that play into that theme, including "Liminal," a chandelier with a limestone oval head. Some of Blalock's older works from his Rochester Institute of Technology graduate thesis exhibition, "Prometheus," will also be on view.
"Oculus" is on display through Thursday, June 23, at Maker's Galley and Studio, 34 Elton Street, 3rd floor. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. For more information, visit makersgalleyandstudio.com.
