CLASSICAL | Penfield Symphony Orchestra

You can sneak in your holiday musical celebrating a bit early this year: On Thanksgiving weekend, the Penfield Symphony Orchestra will present "Holiday, Family, and Friends" under conductor David Harman. The program includes the premiere of an arrangement of "Ding, Dong, Merrily on High" performed by the PSO Brass Ensembles and dedicated to former PSO president Jeanne Gray. Also lots of arrangements of Christmas carols and Hanukkah songs, music from "The Polar Express," and more. All this holiday musical fun has a substantial musical preface: a performance of Brahms's Double Concerto in A Minor, Op. 102, with two Eastman School of Music faculty stalwarts, violinist Renée Jolles and cellist Steven Doane.

Penfield Symphony Orchestra will present "Family, Friends, and Holidays" on Monday, November 30, at Penfield High School Auditorium, 25 High School Drive, Penfield. 7:30 p.m. $12-$14. 872-0774; penfieldsymphony.org.
