The first thing you need to know is that Rochester Lyric Opera is the new name for the former Empire State Lyric Theatre, a company continuing its mission of professional opera productions and educational outreach. Next, you need to know it's time to celebrate National Opera Week, with offerings including a talk at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Nazareth's Wilmot Recital Hall, titled "My Years at the Met" by Gildo DiNunzio, followed by a master class. On Sunday catch an opera showcase featuring vocalists from Rochester and Syracuse. DiNunzio, who for years coached and accompanied opera legend Luciano Pavarotti, includes among his current students Susan Cotroneo, founder and director of Rochester Lyric Opera.
