Daily Choices: What to do on Monday, April 15

Cure those tax day blues (Or go out and spend that refund!)

Special event: Whether to celebrate your lucky break or alleviate your pain, everyone could use a drink to get through Tax Day. So stop by Rochester Contemporary (137 East Ave., rochestercontemporary.org) for Art of the Mix: Tax Day, an evening of signature drinks from a variety of Rochester mixologists. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person. There are only 80 tickets available; call 461-2222 to reserve your place in the mix.

Special event: Want to taste what you've been missing in wine all this time? Instructor Elle Andrews will lead you through the basics of wine tasting in her Wines With Elle class, which starts at 6:30 p.m. at Bistro 135 (135 W. Commercial St., East Rochester). The class costs $20 per person and is limited to 24 spots; you can reserve a spot by emailing bistro135@gmail.com. This is the first of six bimonthly wine classes that Andrews will host at Bistro 135 through June. Visit bistro135.net for more info and the full class schedule.

Workshop: Grains are healthy, natural, and delicious sources of fiber – so it's actually best to not go against them. Instead, you can explore their many varieties at Go with the Grains!, a food workshop with Beth Brinkerhoff, chef and owner of For Goodness Taste Personal Chef Services. The class runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County (249 Highland Ave.). The session costs $30; go to mycce.org to register.

Music: Roger McGuinn, guitarist and founding member of The Byrds, will perform in the Hart Theatre of the Jewish Community Center (1200 Edgewood Ave.) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for general admission and $100 for VIP access. Get tickets and more info at jccrochester.org.

Music: Dolfish — one Max Sollisch — is quirky in his astute observations of the otherwise mundane. His delivery is hysterically deadpan, and his haphazard strokes across distorted strings are appropriate and somewhat epic and basically just really freakin’ cool. If you like guys like Hamell on Trial, you’ll love this cat from Columbus. Cottage Jefferson and Jenna Giuliani will make the scene complete. Dolfish plays Monday, April 15, 8 p.m. at Abilene Bar & Lounge, 153 Liberty Pole Way. $8-$12. abilenebarandlounge.com.
