MUSIC: Boston bred rockers Continental will be bringing its mix of folk, punk, and rock to Water Street Music Hall (204 N. Water St., waterstreetmusic.com) tonight. The band, founded by Rick Barton (previously of another Boston band you may have heard of, the Dropkick Murphys), started with Barton and his son, making it a true musical family affair. Irish rockers 1916 open up the show. Music starts at 8 p.m., tickets run $5-$7.

ART: Take a glance into the past at RIT’s University Gallery’s exhibit, “Neil Montanus: A Photographic Career.” Montanus was a professor of photography at RIT and a famed Kodak photographer. 5 p.m.-7 p.m. 166 Lomb Memorial Dr. 475-2866. rit.edu.

MUSIC: Traveling upstate to us via Brooklyn, singer/songwriter Nathan Leigh will be performing at the Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave., bugjar.com) tonight. Local groups Baby Shark and Cory Kesselring will open up, music starts at 9 p.m., $6-$8. Looking to party after the bands? Manic Monday Retro Dance (this week with David Lee Rad and DJ Cub) will kick off at 11 p.m., free for 21+, $10 for unders.

KIDS: Celebrate the holidays with Charlie the Cowboy and Checkers the Clown at Gates Library’s Happy Holidays Party with Charlie and Checkers. Magic, juggling, and giant holiday balloon. 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Gates Public Library, 902 Elmgrove Rd. 247-6446.
