by Jason SilversteinSpecial event: Bake It or Cleave It joins forces with Interstellar Love Craft for the sumptuous Sweets for your Sweets Sale, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Thread (654 South Ave.), which is usually closed on Mondays. Bake It or Cleave It will offer four flavors of cotton candy (cinnamon, champagne, vanilla and mint chocolate chip) and six varieties of French macarons (dark chocolate raspberry ganache, dark chocolate espresso, maple bacon, grapefruit marmalade, fleur de sel caramel and cinnamon red hot), and Interstellar’s Marisa Krol will debut a new series of jewelry. Each guest has a chance to win free jewelry and treats in a raffle.
Art: A reception will be held at the Owl House (75 Marshall St.) from 6 to 9 p.m. for the new art exhibit by Alexander Currier, which will be there through Mar. 10. A free raffle for a framed Currier piece will be held throughout the night; the winner will be contacted by email. owlhouserochester.com.
Music: Rossini, Ravel and Respighi – those are the three composers (or, shall we say, R-tists) who will be honored at the Penfield Symphony Orchestra’s The Three R’s concert at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Penfield High School (25 High School Dr., Penfield). The concert will also feature a performance by cellist Annie Jacobs-Perkins, winner of the Jo Amish Young Artist Competition. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and free for students, and can be ordered through penfieldsymphonyorchestra.org.
Lecture: You know about the address, but what about the battle? Local historian Bob Marcotte will discuss the role of the Rochester Regiments in the Civil War in his free program “The Battle of Gettysburg: 150 Years,” which starts at 7 p.m. at the Greece Public Library (2 Vince Tofany Blvd., Greece). Music: The Honeycutters, from Asheville, North Carolina, reaped some real critical acclaim with the release of its first studio effort, “Irene,” in May 2009. The amazing breadth of the group’s sound is balanced by the soothingly sweet tones of singer-songwriter Amanda Anne Platt and the inconspicuous, yet incredibly inspired, playing of lead guitarist/producer Peter James. The two have played as an acoustic duo, but the outfit’s true power is present when, helped out by Tal Taylor (mandolin), Ian Harrod (bass), and Jon Ashley (drums), they put the full-fledged, five-piece honky-tonk hurt on enraptured audiences.
