Daily Choices: What to do on Monday, November 26

MUSIC: Drummer Harvey Sorgen has propelled the bands of greats like Ahmad Jamal, Dave Douglas, and Anthony Braxton. In the rock realm he's played with Hot Tuna, Bob Weir, and the Allman Brothers Band. Mexican-born guitarist Omar Tamez has enhanced performances by Reggie Workman, Sonny Fortune, and Rashied Ali and produced a classical CD of music by contemporary Mexican composers. When Sorgen and Tamez get together as a duo tonight at the Bop Shop (1460 Monroe Ave., bopshop.com, 8 p.m., $10) who knows what aspects of such rich and varied careers will emerge?

RECREATION: Experience the newly christened ice today at the Manhattan Square Park Ice Rink. Open skate runs noon-1:30 p.m., 3:40 p.m.-5:10 p.m., 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m., and 7:20 p.m.-8:50 p.m.Call 428-7541 to verify. $2-$8. 353 Court St. cityofrochester.gov/manhattansquare.

MUSIC: Looking to make that special someone swoon because you picked the right place to take them to eat and soak up some musical rays? Well, tonight there's no better place to swoon or be swooned over than Horizons Lounge at Woodcliff Hotel & Spa (199 Woodcliff Dr., Fairport, woodcliffhotelspa.com) for some music and great dining. The weekday jazz happy hour starts at 5:30 p.m., and the music (but not the food) is free.

ART: Take a break from the hustle and bustle to admire some fine art. Williams-Insalaco Gallery at FLCC will exhibit "Imaginations: Space and Time, Drawings and Painting by Debra Stewart" through December 20. The gallery is open 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m. 3325 Marvin Sands Drive, Canandaigua. 785-1369.
