Daily Choices: What to do on Monday, October 22 

COMEDY: The 5th Annual SIS Laugh Out Loud Comedy Event will be held tonight, 5:30 p.m., at Geva Theatre Center (75 Woodbury Blvd.), and features top national comics, complimentary food tastings, live entertainment, and a silent auction to provide financial support for individuals battling breast cancer. MUSIC: Sometimes it's what at the end of the book, movie, or journey that really counts. Local jazz-meets-metal meets experimental group Epilogue will be playing tonight at the Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave., bugjar.com, $5-$7) with The Dead Catholics and Hunter Dislactic opening up. Music starts at 9 p.m.

LECTURE: Cora Weiss, President of The Hague Appeal for Peace and Nobel Peace Prize nominee, will be a guest speaker in conjunction with the "1,000 PeaceWomenAcross the Globe" exhibit now on display at St. John Fisher College. MUSIC: Sure, it may be the start of the week, but that's no reason to stay at home with nothing to do. Why not head on down to The Little Theatre Café (240 East Ave., thelittle.org) for some decorum, food-corum, and music? Every Monday night in October you'll be greeted by Rochester's own Watkins & The Rapiers, for free, starting at 7:30 p.m.

ART: Check out Dennis Burns' paintings of bamboo in the sumi-e (black ink) tradition of Japan at "This Gentleman Bamboo," his exhibition at OckHee's Gallery (2 Lehigh St., Honeoye Falls) through November 24. MUSIC: The Penfield Symphony Orchestra will be kicking off its season tonight at the Penfield High School Auditorium (penfieldsymphony.org), presenting its "The Four B's" concert, including work from Berlioz, Brahms, Britten, and Beethoven. Students can head down to check out the show, starting at 7:30 p.m., for free. Tickets run $12-$14 for everybody else.

LITERATURE: Lift Bridge Book Shop (45 Main St., Brockport) will host a "Le Mot Juste" 2012 Anthology Publication Reading, featuring poets including in the collection, tonight at 7 p.m. The event is free to attend. For more information, visit liftbridgebooks.com.
