Daily Choices: What to do on Tuesday, February 19

Art: Check out “Timeless,” Kurt Feuerherm new show of mixed media landscapes, today at Phillips Fine Art (248 East Ave.). The gallery is open today 12-6 p.m., and the show continues through February 28. Admission is free. For more info, call 232-8150. Feuerherm is also featured in Rochester Contemporary Art Center’s “Makers and Mentors” exhibit, up through March 17. For more information, visit rochestercontemporary.org.

Music: This self-managing, self-promoting folk siren currently hails from Brooklyn, but grew up as part of a globetrotting military family. Despite changing addresses as much as she changed her socks, Michaela Anne still found time to satisfy her musical appetites by studying the violin, piano, and guitar. This combination of landscapes, physical and auditory, has informed a well-seasoned sound that skillfully fuses country, blues, and folk. Anne’s young career has already seen critical acclaim for her 2011 album “To Know Where,” as well as comprehensive tours of both coasts, where she has played with the likes of Frontier Ruckus and Michael Daves. Michaela Anne plays Tuesday, February 19, 8 p.m. at Abilene Bar & Lounge, 153 Liberty Pole Way. Free 21+/$3 under. 232-3230, abilenebarandlounge.com.

Special Event: Join the folks from the Mineral Section of Rochester Academy of Science tonight, 7-9 p.m., for a presentation on “Geology of Iceland” by Richard Batt, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Earth Sciences & Science Education Dept., Buffalo State College. The event takes place at Brighton Town Hall (2300 Elmwood Ave.) and is free to attend. For more information, call 288-5683 or visit rasny.org.

Music: Sounds the alarm! The Beatles, Bernstein, and the rest of the 1960s all come together in tonight’s “1969” concert by Alarm Will Sound. Music starts at 8 p.m. at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre (60 Gibbs St., esm.rocheseter.edu), and tickets run $15-$25.

Lecture: Today’s edition of the Tuesday Topics series covers the “Ghosts of the Rundel Library Building,” and will be presented in Kate Gleason Auditorium at Central Library (115 South Ave.), 12:12-12:52 p.m. The event is free to attend. For more info, call 428-8350 or visit libraryweb.org.
