Daily Choices: What to do on Tuesday, February 5

Music: The Acoustic Basement started as an anomaly at the Warped Tour – a small tent for quiet, intimate performances away from the usual punk mayhem – but it has now evolved into the Acoustic Basement Tour, which comes to the Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave.) tonight. Geoff Rickly, the frontman of the now-defunct Thursday, (you can check out our interview with him here) headlines a set of fellow punks gone unplugged, including The Movielife and I am an Avalanche’s Vinnie Caruana, A Loss of Words, Koji and Brian Marquis. Doors open at 7 p.m., music starts at 7:15. Price is $12-$15, check bugjar.com for updates.

Music: Get a healthy dose of arts, crafts and music at the fourth monthly Artisan Craft and Music Night at Abilene Bar and Longue (153 Liberty Pole Way). From 6 to 10 p.m., local artists will be displaying and selling their works in Abilene’s lounge and barroom, while Todd Bradley of the Hi-Risers performs music throughout the night. Abilenebarandlongue.com.

Theater: It might have made more sense for this show to premiere on a Wednesday, no? Regardless, get creeped out at the first performance of The Addams Family, the hit Broadway musical that is now touring the nation. The eerie-funny musical runs until Feb. 10 at the Auditorium Theatre (885 Main St. East). The show runs at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Wednesday and Thursday, 8 p.m. on Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. on Saturday and 1 and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets range from $32.50 to $67.50, and can be purchased through rbtl.org or by calling 585-222-5000.

Music: Well, “music” might be a generous way of putting it, but we’ll see what happens once the drinks get going at Karaoke night at 140 Alex Bar and Grill (140 Alexander St.). 140 Alex’s weekend karaoke nights tend to be overwhelmingly crowded, so make a fool of yourself in relative obscurity in the middle of the week. The karaoke is free. 140alex.com.
