Music: Even if you were far away from home or friend or family this holiday season, you still have to chance to be almost home, or at least close to it, tonight. Check out Close To Home (with We Are Defiance opening up) tonight at Water Street Music Hall (204 N. Water St., waterstreetmusic.com) at 4:30 p.m. this afternoon. Tickets cost $10.
Kids: Take the tykes to the Seneca Park Zoo (2222 St. Paul St.) today, 11 a.m., for Book and Beast story time and meet an animal. The event is included with paid zoo admission ($5-$8, children under 2 and members free). For more info, call 336-7200 or visit senecaparkzoo.org.
Music: Music can bring people together of all backgrounds, and make them act like they are almost family. With that same idea, you should head on down to the Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave., bugjar.com) tonight to check out California Cousins, 9 p.m., $5-$7.
Art: Catch the Annual Holiday Exhibit at Oxford Gallery (267 Oxford St.) before it ends on January 5. A variety of work by artists represented at the gallery will be shown and sold. Today’s hours are noon-5 p.m., and admission is free. For more info, call 271-5885 or visit oxfordgallery.com.
