AWOLNATION, Greentopia Film, and circus in the park

LECTURE: A Kodak History Lecture with optics expert Martin Scott will be presented tonight at 6:30 p.m. at George Eastman House (900 East Ave.). Scott will discuss the history of the Kodak labs and their long relationship with the Eastman House. Admission is $3-$6, and free to members. FILM:Greentopia | Film kicks off today with screenings of such inspiring flicks as "Cafeteria Man," "Down East," "The Waiting Room," "Chasing Ice," "Detropia," "Last Call at the Oasis," and "The Last Reef." Each film will be accompanied by a short film screenings as well as busker performances. The screenings take place between 6 and 11 p.m. at four locations; check the website for details. SPECIAL EVENT: If you need a little mid-week mood boost, join Roc Cirque for Rochester's premiere spin toy meet up, Whirly Wednesday, which takes place at 7 p.m. at Genesee Valley Park (Elmwood Ave.). The free event includes live DJs, hula hooping, poi, juggling, fire performances, and more. Join in the fun or just gawk at the skill. For information, call 683-5734.

MUSIC: Get ready to play some air synth and sail: it's time to get your electronic rock on with AWOLNATION tonight at Water Street (204 North Water St.). Bands Imagine Dragons (like I want to imagine anything else!) and Zeale open up the show. Tickets run $20-$23, and the show starts at 8 p.m. Waterstreetmusic.com has all the info you'll need.

MUSIC: Major Tony Nelson brings another showcase of local music to the Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave.), with his own rap/hip-hop headlining the night. Acoustic-laden band Poetry of Thieves and experimental group Epilogue, both from Rochester as well, open up the show. Entry will only run you $3 before 9 p.m., goes up to $5-$7 after that, so get down early and save a few. Head to bugjar.com with any questions.
