SPECIAL EVENT: On Saturday or Sunday, take a morning flight on the Intrepid, a Civil War-era hot-air balloon at Genesee Country Village & Museum (1410 Flint Hill Road, Mumford). Flights take place 7-10 a.m. and cost $35-$45. RSVP for your spot: 294-8218, gcv.org.

FESTIVAL: Captain Redbeard's Feast takes place this weekend at Honeoye Lake (call for location: 367-8417, aredbeardpirate@yahoo.com, captainrebeards.com), featuring seafood, pirate vittles, arts, crafts, games, and entertainment. Hours are Saturday noon-dusk and Sunday 9 a.m.-dusk.

MUSIC: Lovin' Cup (300 Park Point Dr.) is run by music fans and presents a vibe where the music predominates. For this big, and FREE, Four-Year Anniversary Party, The Swooners will get things started, followed by a Lovin' Cup Idol reunion, and closed out by Moho Collective, a band with an unpredictable impishness to its solid foundation and soul. COMEDY: Enjoy stand-up comedy with Craig Robinson from NBC's "The Office" Saturday night at the University of Rochester Strong Auditorium (River Campus). The show is at 9 p.m. and tickets are $7-$12. For info: 275-5911, urochestertickets.com.

MUSIC: Pat Metheny and the jazz guitar have been practically synonymous for close to forty years. The recently formed "Unity Band," is named after the area of Missouri that Metheny grew up in, but more importantly, he says "the undercurrent of my musical life has always been one of reconciliation and unification of all the sounds and ideas that I love as one big singular thing." SPECIAL EVENT: Dress darkly and mourn the end of summer at the Black Party Sunday, September 2, at 140 Alex Bar & Grill (140 Alexander St.). The event takes place 9 p.m.-2 a.m. and the cover is $5 for 21+, $15 for ages 18-21. More info: 256-1000. 140alex.com.
