While the standards and accountability movement has largely succeeded in heightening awareness of disparities in student achievement, surprisingly little attention has been given to what it takes to create conditions in schools that will make achievement for all students more likely. In describing effective, proven principles and practices, this presentation and panel discussion will show why the path to excellence is through equity and what we can do to make it happen for a wider variety of learners in a greater number of schools.
