Kermit the Frog won't be hosting a troupe of boppin' Muppets, but Lovin' Cup will feature its own whimsical rendition of Jim Henson's "Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas." A crew of musicians pulled from top local bands — The MoHo Collective, Teressa Wilcox Band, The Isotopes, The Ruckus Juice Jug Stompers and others — will re-create the songs from the 1977 Jim Henson television special. Henson produced the one-hour television adaptation of Russell Hoban's 1971 storybook. Three shows over two days will each feature a different ensemble with audio and video clips from the film interspersed throughout. These family-friendly tunes will have you foot-stompin' along to loveable favorites like "There Ain't No Hole in the Washtub" and "Bar-B-Q."
The Music of Emmet Otter's Jug-band Christmas will take place Saturday, December 13, and Sunday, December 14, at Lovin' Cup, 300 Park Point Drive. 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 2:30 and 7 p.m. on Sunday. $8-$12. lovincup.com.
