JAZZ FUSION | Greg Byers

Rochester native Greg Byers started playing cello as a toddler. After graduating from the University of Miami, Byers tested the waters of the Los Angeles music scene and eventually moved to Minneapolis, where he now resides. Byers is a singer-songwriter whose fall concert tour and new EP are financed by donations from a Kickstarter project. The tunes are warm and enjoyable and flow with an orchestral vibe. The vocals lean toward pop and sound sweet to the ear. This homecoming concert features Byers as a one-man-show who blends (among other things) an electric cello along with a synthesized rhythm section. It all works like a charm. Dave Pronko opens.

Greg Byers performs on Sunday, September 22, 8:30 p.m. at Tango Cafe, 389 Gregory St. Donation suggested. tangocafedance.com.
