The Rochester dining scene’s farm-to-table ethos is embodied by Art Rogers’ Lento, which takes the “local, seasonal, sustainable” mantra very seriously, with the restaurant’s purveyors given prominent mention on Lento’s walls. That’s not to make Lento sound self-important or stuffy; simply put, this spacious and only slightly upscale eatery serves up some of the area’s most exquisitely prepared cocktails and food, the fluid menu offering everything from high-end steak, lamb, and fish dishes to myriad variations on the French-Canadian classic poutine to housemade hot dogs with an array of toppings. Seafood lovers, take note of the raw bar, especially Dollar Oyster Tuesdays.
