Masking is a universal practice both artistic and exploratory. People of diverse cultures use the mask for healing, ceremony, personal identification and artistic expression. This class will begin with looking at both cultural and artistic masks. Everyone will make a personal neutral mask as a first step to “see through the eyes of another.” Through the process of making a second painted mask, exploration will begin in the development of identifying a character to be incorporated into literary and/or dramatic story form.
