This program will feature delightful and virtuosic string quintets by the famous cellist and composer Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805), performed by some of the country's foremost baroque string players. All Boccherini's chamber works exhibit a very refined sense of instrumental color and texture, and two of the quintets on this program also show the influence of Spanish dances (the fandango and the follia). The program also includes "Boccherini's Famous Minuet" in its original context.
