Come hear the true story of an epic event in Rochester history. On May 14, 1814 local militia confronted a British fleet on Lake Ontario attempting to invade Western New York. Local historian Jim Fischer will recount the courage and ingenuity displayed by those early Rochesterians as they faced the largest army in the world during the War of 1812. Part of the High Falls Lunch Hour Lecture Series. Bring a brown bag lunch and join us at High Falls for monthly talks on local history topics. Lecture runs from 12:10 to 12:50, with questions and answers afterward.
