Presented by Teresa Lehr. She will open with a short account of Rochester's social scene following World War I and the Spanish influenza epidemic. Her presentation will explore the origins of the tonsil clinic initiative in 1920, describe the experiences of city children who went through the two clinics, and imagine the experiences of a Mendon or Honeoye Falls youngster whose family might have qualified. The talk will be illustrated with photographic images from the actual clinics.
