The City Seen: November 6-8

Notes from the weekend

We apologize for our Halloween hiatus by bringing you an update from a jam-packed weekend of art, sugar, and holiday shopping. Following the First Friday trail, City made four stops: Visual Studies Workshop, Gallery R, Image City Photography, and The Hungerford building.

The sweet scents of Christmas lead us through the George Eastman Museum on Saturday to see more than 60 gingerbread houses on display for Sweet Creations 2015. The houses went beyond your average one story house as builders used fondant and cookies to build castles, robots, recreations of paintings, and more. The scavenger hunt added to the excitement as riddles had you read closely and pay attention to detail.

Sunday continued the holiday fun as the Mayday Underground Craft & Art Fair had something for everyone on your list. Prismatic Gardens was selling tiny floral seedpod terrariums; Sage Studios displayed different mushrooms log arrangements and other glass creations; and Dirty Ass Soap provided gag gift fodder with soaps in the exact shape, size, and scent as many popular candies, like Twizzlers, Dots, and Swedish fish.
